Default Dual Shutoff Quick Disconnects

Hi all!
I just ordered some quick disconnects and was wondering if having too many quick disconnects in the cicuit would affect/impede water flow?

Probably should have asked this eariler, but oh well.
Thanks for input!

it depends; what is the ID of the quick-disconnects, and what is the ID of the tubing you are using in your system? if the ID of the disconnects is smaller than the ID of the tubing, then it will decrease the flow rate thru the system.
also, what waterblock and pump will you be using?

I'm using 2 DD Maze 3 (coming Thusday!!!!!! ), 1 Eheim 1250 pump, 1 BIX, 1 PVC box res, tubing is 1/2" ID tygon (Coming on Wednesday!!!!! ), and the quick disconnects are the half hose barb half connect kind. I *believe* (and I stress believe because it was REALLY late when I ordered the stuff) that the Quick disconnects are 1/2" OD for both sides of the connect... maybe.

This is what I bought (from email invoice):

2EA 5315K32 - Double Shut-Off Steel $22.74 EA Hydraulic Hose Coupling 1/2"
Hose Barb Connection, Socket,
Zinc-Plated

2EA 5315K58 - Double Shut-Off Steel $17.53 EA
Hydraulic Hose Coupling 1/2"
Hose Barb Connection, Plug,
Zinc-Plated

they come in packs of 5.... at least that's what I thought I read !

so.. will there be a lot of flow impedence from the quick disconnects?

By the way, is it okay to have a nylon T splitting and combining the water lines to and from the water blocks? (blocks in parallel)

you will take a MAJOR hit, particularly if you have a low head pump
go to the mfgr's website, they all publish curves for these things
(google)

and zinc-plated ?? much better brass
next time try eBay (I got 2 pr of 1" for $35 inc. shipping - but 1" is excessive, 3/4" best)

they do drop your flow, their internal diameter is really small. you might want to consider buying ones for bigger than 1/2" tubing

Well, I won't be using them after all. When I got the quick disconnects, they were HUGE! I vastly underestimated their size, not to mention their weight (about 1 kilogram with the two parts coupled)! I'll return them tomorrow. Oh well, so much for that plan !

Thanks for the replies!

By the way, if anybody knows a place where they sell plastic quick disconnects, then please let me know. Thanks a bunch!
