Default Got my Tygon in and it works!

Well, I did what everyone suggested and made the switch over to tygon. It worked well. The only problem is that my danner that I am useing now doesn't want to start. it will sit there and shudder alot untill I turn it off. For some reason it will only turn on correctly when it wants to when I plug it in. Any ideas? But. . . .here are the pictures of the current setup. No temps for ya yet.

Looks GREAT! I notice no clamps!

I got mine, just haven't had a chance to install it yet.
Nice job.

Yes, the pump is running correctly right now. But, if I unpluged it and pluged it back in, it would studder.

I love the way it bends. How stiff is it?

It is stiff enough to hold its place, but not too stiff where I can't move stuff around. It took the place of all but one of my 90's, and that is because I can't get it around the straight part of a 1/2" pipe w/o heat. I might try later.

Did you do the impeller silencing trick to that pump? When I did it to mine, it did exactly what you describe. Had to take it apart, and re-do it. I guess it wasn't balanced properly the first time.

What went wrong, did it with my Eheim, everything fits so snug don't understand how you could have had an issue?

Glue the shaft to the impeller?

It took alot of glue (used Epoxy rather than Super Glue), and the weight of the glue threw off the balance.

Ouch, did you have to replace the impeller, since it was glued with epoxy?

Well, I did do the impeller trick. I used superglue, and I spun it in a drill. I didn't see any wavering at all. Can I get a new impeller anyplace?

Ok, lets see if I have all the info. The pump won't run at all?
Or it just make a rattle noise and shutters?

Did you test it before you glued the impeller?

O, the pump runs fine about 1/16th of a time. It just rattles and shakes the other 15/16 times.

It worked fine before I glued the impeller. But, I am hunting around. I think I will end up just replaceing it. It shoudln't be that expensive.

Cyco-Dude: yes, I have been. I prob missed those threads you are talking about.

Epoxy, and especially super glue are brittle glues, one sharp twist should bust your impeller free of the glue. That's what I did with my epoxied one. Heck, if your suck with having to buy a new one anyways, it's worth a shot. Especially was in my case as my pump wouldn't pump at all. Tho I didn't try 16 times. Good luck.

Shit Cyco, my brains are shot! I was asking Dan about what exactly was happening; I think??? LOL
Give me the damn pump and I'll shoot it!

Buy an Eheim! Then do what I did, take it apart to see what's inside since it rattled (because as a rookie then I didn't know air caused rattle) then drop the shaft on the floor breaking it into 3 to 4 pieces and having to drive 40 miles one way for a new one that cost $2.00!

If I had to do it over again I would not glue it, but I cannot image how you threw it out of balance by glueing it unless you got excess glue on the impeller?

Try what Una said, if not read my post again.
Later-

Jim

Well, the thought of shooting it has occured to me. I thought that a .308 shell will split the impellar nicely

Tell me where you are I'll bring two M1 Garands and we'll have a ball! Heck we can shoot the crap out of my maze3 too!

Little tired and stupid (more than usual) tonight just spent 1.5 hours trying to find out the difference between XMX and CMX Corsair 2700 ram, which of course is NOTHING; they are the same! Hopefully when I order I will remember. LOL

I had that happen with a pump of mine, it just stopped working and did exactly that. I pulled it apart, put it back together, and it's still working

yup sounds like an impeller problem. perhaps the spindle on the impeller came unseated. just take it apart and put it back together like brad did.

I'm glad I bought an Eheim.
I had to glue the impeller to the magnet (Una's trick) to get the pump silent, but it's been running for almost a year non-stop since then, only shut it down to go to a LAN a couple of times.
