Eheim inline?(no resevoir needed?) right?
I want to put it in my case and got confused with inline and submersible and how you tell the difference. also- any good ideas on case setup for jamming a pump and radiator into my new antec sx830 case with everything else?
thanks!

Eheim pumps, (at least the 1250 I have and similar looking ones), are able to be used inline or submersible, your choice.

Hmm haven't had any problems like this and its been over a month. I don't see why it would be a problem, the pumps have only a single moving part and its an impeller. Email Eheim and ask, their support is great about that sort of thing.

As for pics, check here. http://arstechnica.infopop.net/OpenT...5&m=5290928762

Second from the top. Yeah I know it isn't procooling, but I'm waiting until I get my new tubing and GPU block before I post the pics here. My current setup is downright sloppy.

Those eheims are nice pumps... I just got one a couple weeks ago. It is very quiet, and it just has a MUCH more heavy duty feel than any other pumps i've ever owned.

side mounting is not a problem, the ehiem mounting plate is able to be fitted either to the bottom or either side of the pump I'd guess they're fine on their side.
And yes they are sweet pumps

I'm building a small reservoir to use with my in-line system. Currently I'm using a Eheim 1048 and a Maze-2 with a "T" to bleed the system. But frankly, the "T" sucks ass. The speed of the water prevents the last bubbles of air escaping up the "T", the result: Pump noise. And I mean more than I can handle, the only thing I hear in my comp right now is the pump!

What I'm gonna do is take a small "boxy" looking plastic bottle (2 dl) and run it in-line with the system. The water enters in the lower side of the bottle and leaves in the bottom. This should bleed out the air real quick and also get me a good fill point. I'm gonna find a solution to how to connect the tubing tonight.

Basically I think you need a reservoir in any water cooling system. You just don't need one of them big bulky ones.
I will get back to the forum when I have tested the "bleeding reservoir". The jury is still out...

It takes a few days, but unless your system is leaking the T will remove all the air.

No, it won't escape up the "T". I can assure you it's not because the system is leaking air in at some point, it simply can't get rid of the air bubbles as the rush of water is too strong in my 9 mm (ID) system. I've had the system running for three months at one time without altering it or opening it up, and I simply could not get rid of the bubbles (very small ones are always left).

I know there is nothing wrong with the pump, if I take the system out of the case and remove the bubbles by hand then I can get a really noise-less operation from the pump that lasts seemingly forever (tried for two weeks without air leaks). Unfortunately, putting the system back into the case after removing the bubbles is not easy without opening up the lines at some point because of the mounting of the radiator etc..

The "T" I'm using is the one DangerDen is selling as an accessory.

Just use 2 T's in series. Connect intake on first T, exhaust on second T, add 3 vanes to open/cut the flow and voila, no reservoir and a convenient bleeding system.
I have such a system, takes me about 30mn to empty/fill it completely and to remove bubbles.

I'm not sure of just what you described.. do you mean: taps = vanes?
If you could describe more in-depth how you use the system I would be greatful!

Yep Eheim makes good vanes (or taps) - take a look into their site you may even find pictures.
The system is based on Koolance setup:
(V=tap)
Code:
   IN OUT
    | |
    V1 V2
    | |
 <--T--V3--T--<
To fill the system:
-close V3
-open v1 and v2
-use a basin (or an airtrap, see below)
-suck the output pipe until water comes up
-a good idea is to put IN above and OUT below the system....
To bleed the system:
-Open v1 and V2, v3 closed
-switch on the pump
-wait a few minutes
-open v3
- wait
-close v1 and v2
-switch off the pump
-close IN and OUT (with corks or anything that can seal em)

Ah also, look at Turbokeu's setup (below in that forum). IN and OUT are connected to an air trap in his wonderful setup.

Thanks for the explanation, it makes perfect sense. In my new case I might even fit that and the airtrap!

But I have a feeling I won't be bleeding/filling the system too often as I haven't previously, so I could probably do without the valves (and the cost). It just takes a few moments of cycling the pump on/off to get the flow going and the bubbles will escape to the air trap.

But yes, Turbokeu's system is awesome. That is some professional piece of work.

Wow thats one of the best ideas I've seen in ages. Ot took me 3 hours to fill my system yesterday and I still managed to soak my case.

My next system will have one of those.
