Looks kind of sucky. No name, weak pump, modest radiator and no details on the quality of the way overpriced block (for $2 more you could get a damn Maze2!) Not to mention that it mixes copper and Al. No excuse for doing that for that kind of cost.
I'd definately go elsewhere. Like Eheim 1250 + Cube/BigMama + Maze2. Thats about $150 before shipping and tuning and will smoke the above kit. BTW, how exactly do you get one of those on a P4? I thought the sockets required you to use the holes, do they even have lugs on them? |

I'd go with just plain watercooling myself, pelts are useful but also hard to setup. You need foam and perhaps nonconductive gel to gaurd against condensation and the P4 runs so hot you would need a very high wattage to cool it. Probably too high for your power supply to handle, which means a second power supply.
But they are really l33t ![]() |

I definely agree with Redleader. Don't go Z3.
Get yourself a Maze 2 with 1/2" barbs, 7 or so feet of silicon tubing in 1/2" and possibly the eheim 1250 pump (you'll also need the 5/8" to 1/2" kit for the inlet on this pump) from www.dangerden.com. Then for rads get the D-tek Cooler core (just like the Big Momma, but cheaper and has 1/2" fittings, oh ya it is full copper, just painted silver) at http://dtekcustoms.safeshopper.com/7/24.htm?901 Another option for pumps (what I'm using as local suppliers and shippig sucks to Canada) is the Danner Mag-Drive #3 - 350gph. 1/2" barbs screw right in (one mail, one female). It's cheaper than the eheim, pumps as good and very silent (but I hear Eheim's are the most silent and reliable, these aren't far behind) Condensation won't form if you just water cool (without the peltier) as nothing ever goes below room temperature. I'd start with basic water cooling, then if you feel the need move up to a peltier when you know more about what needs to be done for condensation (it's a whole 'nother art!!!)

That little radiator is gonna fry your expensive chip.
I'de return that kit without even opening the box. I suggest reading the entire forum before ordering your system.

I'd second that. I've picked up a lot of useful info that has probably saved me from killing my kit.

In my opinion the z3 kit isn't a great choice, you can find everything you need from that kit seperately for less money. I have the Z3 copper block, a magdrive 2, and a bigger radiator for about half the price! Admittedly my resivoir is a piece of tupperware I went at with a knife and silicone sealant, but it's quite effective. Mine is also out side of my case in a shoebox.... whc seems to be not what you're looking for, but I think you could buy things that would fit without much difficulty for a better price.

If you can't return it don't loose heart as the basics of the kit are ok to start with.
It's also supplied from www.overclockershideout.com and I'm also using the Copper block that comes with that kit. Although it doesn't incorporate a built in hold down like the Maze 2 it has bigger & better water channel CNC'ing. The Maze 2 didn't exist back then, (and I think it has recently been improved in the water channel area as well). The OCH block is very big and works well. It also has a lid that is attached by screws. This enabled me to take it apart and measure the base thickness. It was 4.6mm, too thick IMO so I carefully milled it down to 1mm, (very thin), and this gave 6°C max CPU load temp reduction with the same wateflow and temp.

Well Joe is working on a huge shootout that is upposedly due out on Procooling this week. But its been almost done now for about 2 months
![]() In the mean time www.overclockers.com has done tons of reviews of one or two blocks at a time. Its hit or miss if they've ever tried your stuff though. Finally try searching these forums as well as www.hardforum.com Also, why did you do research after you ordered? That virtually certifies that you will be disapointed! |
