Who wants a diode reader?
I'm going to start cranking them out depending on demand. Parts are on the way, tell me if you are interested. ![]() I figure it will help everyone out a great deal for accurate temps. Minor soldering skills are required, but instructions will be included. Best part is, $10. The boards are a little over 3/4" square. You will probably be able to mount them directly under the cpu itself. They plug directly into the Smbus and are detected under Motherboard Monitor 5. I'll keep everyone posted when I get them finished

Yeah, I'd be interested in one. I take it the soldering skills you mention are placing the two wires that connect the reader to the appropriate pins on the back of the motherboard?

I'm interested, but I have an 8kha+ (no Smbus plug). I need to get the SMBus signals from the backside DIMM, but I don't know what pins to use.

A few boards even have SMB plugs, so no soldering required.
I'll take one. |

Woot!!!
My A7N266-c has an SMB plug, so no soldering for me! Edit : I mean no DIMM soldering, even with the header you still need to solder two points on the back of the CPU socket. Last edited by redleader; 07-13-2002 at 01:39 AM. |

Will these work fine on an MSI K7N420? If so, I'd be glad to buy one.

Heh, I have no idea as to which boards they will work on. I know all motherboards have an Smbus, be it a plug, or be it soldering to the bottom of the dimms. Look in the manual. The smbus looks like this the header at the top of my circuit pic.
The minor soldering skills are soldering it to the back of the chip. I would say that all ASUS boards have a SMBUS header. As for others, I wish i knew.

According to an article I read (or was it forums... damn I wish I remembered) some ASUS boards such as the A7V266-E also have pins for the socket connection. If I remember correctly, it has something to do with that reserved pin in the THEMCPU jumper block. Does anyone else remember reading this?
Edit: I found it, over at amdmb.com. Here's the thread: http://www.amdmb.com/vb/showthread.p...hreadid=116992
