Things To Do When You Got A Dedicated Server

Well my good old pc is up and running as a Windows NT 4 Server as a IIS 4.0 dedicated web/ftp server. But I have no website to host or light game to run on it. Any suggestions? Anyone in need of space? //Plaws

Could start a UT2003 server as well.

I've been considering my own domain & server, but I have absolutely NO idea what to put on it

da thing

The only problem at the moment is that my current server is a 300MHz AMD K6-2 so it's to slow for CS & UT, though it's a fast & stable webserver, I have used it for cs-stats. Later on I might put a 433MHz, 192Mb ram etc pc to be the server....then there will be no problem with anything And even later on, I will get fast internet and my current pc will be the server. but currently I can only host websites, though the server does that very good

I'd like to set up a site to sell beerbongs maybe we could talk about some profit sharing if you let us use your server to host the site?

da

shure, though since I ain't a company or shit I can't take any payments, but I can offer you free 200mb free webspace on my little IIS 4.0 server. btw, the upload speed is 25-45kB/s. The server has been in the procooling chat for week or something, just to have it doing something

Well, if you don't mind not being a web server, you could setup an IRC proxy for me. I'm sitting at work with http access but no IRC access due to the company firewall.

The only ports that are open through our firewall (I believe) are port 80 and 21 (http and ftp). Sucks, because most every server I know of already USES those ports. You can't run httpd and ircd on port 80 at the same time.

I'm trying to ask the head of IS again about IRC, but we'll see. I feel like I'm skating on thin ice here at work by asking about such un-worklike activities.

I don't know about port 443 though.

Freeware

I use the program "Active Ports" to very fast and easily find out which ports any program that currenlty are running uses. It's been a real helper for me.
