Default ? For BillA re: Iwaki Pumps!

Bill, What model Iwaki do you use? I have been looking at the MD-20RLT (Japanese Motor). Thoughts? Have not been able to find the heat output of these pumps at all. I appreciate your insight. Oh, what is the deal with the RXLT's? Confused on which is better for our use.

take your pick (based on your system resistance/desired flow rate)

I have a MD70-RLZ, but I'm not a typical WCer, eh ?
(used for testing, VERY stout - too stout)

some dealers list the wattages
hit google, I have no link handy

you are correct, get the MD motor (less heat and noise per the fish guys)

The RLTs are pressure rated so will be able to handle the back pressure of the waterblocks much better than the RXLTs which are strictly for regular circulation.

Iwakis do tend to run a tad on the hot side (japanese model not so bad though) and they are very quiet...

Hope this helps.

I have a nice MD30RLT.... keeps high flow even after curves, ups and downs and all that.... 3/4" tubing branched off into smaller tubes works best for me.... still in testing phase though...

And I'm a slow worker cuz I have a busy schedule...or I like to have fun and relax or something....something isn't right for sure ! hehe....

Oh, and about them running hot: I think after the "30" series, the IWAKI's use a fan to actively cool the pump...but the 20+30 are just passive...mine is quiet, and it is somewhat warm...but not really too warm, seemed almost like a normal pump to me....

When I actually apply the pump to my system, I will duct and 80mm or 92mm fan down a tube that houses the pump....this will also serve as exhaust for something else though...
