Default Can't believe it but...Intel Qs

OK, someone needs to school me on WTF is going on with Intel P4 boards these days. I haven't really been keeping up to snuff on the technology, and now I realize I am completely lost. Looks to me like the SiS 648 and Intel 845 are the two chipsets of choice out there. But whats up with 400MHz FSB or 533MHz FSB CPUs? What kind of RAM do they use? Could I use Crucial PC2700 like I would with my 8KHA+ with this stuff? Which CPUs are the most cost effective as far as OCing potential? Which MoBos are the best? How much would I expect to spend for a CPU + MoBo + RAM combo which would get me to 3HGz+? Someone help me out I'm totally lost....

the asus P4PE is a very nice board, check out their site, it has everything on it. It supports 400 and 533mhz fsb cpu's, so you could buy either, I'd probably recommend a 2.5 (25x100) or 2.67 (20x133) because they are the newer stepping cpu's.

Your crucial pc2700 will work fine. You could also buy a second stick of it, and wait a little while so you can buy a dual channel ddr motherboard and run two sticks of memory in it. With the P4 dual channel should actually give quite a large performance increase

cool thanks Brad. I'll still have to do some more reading on the subject but that helped out a lot.
