i'm looking at getting the 'UH' version of the block. but that seems quite impossible over here in europe (not uk). they always have the 'U' version and never the 'UH'.
so what i wanted to ask (and have already asked swiftech, but gotten no reply) , is the 'u' version same as 'uh', xept for the barbs? if so i buy the 'u' version, undo the sucky barbs and simply screw in some regular hose barbs. i have a gut feeling that the intake nozzles for the version are different though. ('u' seems to have a jet effect at the intake for increased velocity , where the 'uh' version doesn't seem to have this narrowing and relies simply on pure flow). anyone wish to enlighten me? thx |

I have the "U" block, and have looked into converting it into the UH version. The problem I see, it the exit hole on the cover, it is VERY close the the edge and I fear drilling it out won't work, it is just too close to the edge.
<-----EDIT-----> After further examination, the intake and exit on the U top are stepped, that is they are wide at the top and take 2 steps down, to like a 3/8" opening into the block. If one could just thread the upper part of the holes in the top, a barb could certainly be screwed on to it. Ideally, I would leave the inlet hole stepped the way it is, this would create more velocity in theory, but the exit hole would probably benefit from being expanded, and this is the hole that remains the problem...

quite correct
probably easier to mod a -U outlet 'up', than a -UH inlet 'down' |

leave the inlet on a -U be (as you cannot know how to improve it)

no g.l.amour
you have not understood what I said, suggest re-reading ? the 462-UH was 'created' in response to a demand by OCers for a 'high flow' version it performs worse than the 462-U but it is what the high-flow boys wanted, so thats what Swiftech gave 'em (no BS here, I've lots of data and I'm rather friendly with Swiftech) modding the 462-U outlet is a pain (just drill it out and epoxy in a nipple) but it is a LOT easier than you guessing the right connection ID and then guessing the best standoff (as you have no way to accurately measure the effect) -> and then you have to make this inlet nozzle ! Swiftech should offer a range of nozzles (but who would pay for such, still must match to the pump/rad combo) all clear ? |

yes; the intake nozzle for the U version is a superior design. so better get hosebarbs on that one so higher diameter tubing can be used.
