my harddrive went out in my backup comp. i just bought a new 40g western digital 7200rpm. well i got the drive in installed windows, drivers, and programes. the problem is i am have problems with windows wanting to lock up more than usual a lot more!

What is happening? Blue screens of death, page faults, freezes, etc.? Need some more info.

How old is the computer? I have to ask, because some "new drives" ship with the default speed of 100 ATA. I had a Maxtor that I had to set back down to ATA/66. Dunno about WDs.

its a 300mhz p3 with 128 meg ram. thanks for the replys i think that the ata100 to ata66 may be the fix what do you guys think with the info about the comp. that i just gave ya
