Well, the Iceberg Kit served its purpose, it popped my water cooling cherry 8) Now that I've got a taste for it, the iceberg is going to the wife's box and I'll be redoing mine. I got my new waterblock Gemini Standard Flow Rev2. It looks nice and got good reviews. I haven't found a res I really liked so when I stumbled upon a small Absolut bottle, I knew what I had to do. A little bit of diamond tip Dremel luvin and I got my res. Here's some sexy pics:
Full Frontal Nudity! cigs are for size comparison. ![]() Side Nudity. ![]() Rear Nudity. ![]() The barbs are just in temporarily for now, as I might need elbows. Also I'm not sure if I'll use Goop or JB Weld on them. What do you guys suggest? The holes are tight and I had to screw em to get em in all the way. Also for a pump I'm leaning towards the Aqua Via 1300, any comments about that pump? More pics as I progress. peace. unloaded |

Someone call the ATF on this guy!
Nice going. I'd still use plumber's goop on the outside of the barbs, but not before using a good epoxy to fix them once and for all. The pump is OK, but some would say it's not. It seems that it will raddle if there's a lot of restriction of flow, in the cooling loop, but I don't think that would be your case. |

Looks good!
The Via Aqua 1300 runs hot. I'd invest in the Eheim S600. DangerDen has them here: http://www.dangerden.com/mall/pumps.asp

Well, the s600 can not be put inline, what if we want small, reliable, and inline, not submersible, then what do you do.
I guess I may be stuck with the via aqua 1300, unless you know of something better |

Yes, sorry.
![]() He's already got a res, so he needs an inline pump; I'd stick with the Via Aqua 1300 if you're on a budget.

Spend the extra cash on a Danner 350 GPH. You should be able to find them online for $40 or less. The Via Aqua is a piece o' shite, and mine only got about 20 minutes use before I shit canned it. If you want a noisy vibrator-like weaker-than-shit pump, go for the Via Aqua, but keep in mind you'll probably be getting a new pump in another couple of months. I don't think there is any pump I would recommend less than that POS.
That's just my .02. Oh, and wicked res, dude. Mount that in front of a window for "OHMIGODHOWFUKINSWEET" reactions.

Thanx for all the comments guys. BTW I didn't drink the vodka, I found the bottle. I've been in recovery for almost 8 yrs now (hence the nick). So I'm kinda hesitant about using that bottle. I thought about a Bawls bottle, but it's not clear and the top isn't a screw on. I mainly wanted to try out my diamond tools on glass to see how much trouble it was. They worked pretty easily, alothough there are some better ones suited for the job. I'll be getting them next time I goto Harbor Frieght.
Here's what I used: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=40547 Here's what I'll get for next time: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=32398 This is off topic, but I was reading in a different thread about how expensive fly cutter are, so I thought I'd point this out: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=45323 OK, back to thread. You guys have me reconsidering the pump. Guess I'll do some more investigating. I thought it seemed a bit too good to be true. I'm liable to go with it for a while just to save a bit of money for a month or so, I dunno yet. Also looks like I'll be using JB Weld, I like the clearness of the Goop but I was leary of its strength. Thnx for the input guys. peace. unloaded |
