Default Generic help on my WC system

I was just wondering if anyone could think of a way to keep my WC system you know, neater...like have the radiator mounted or inside the case or something so it doesn't look so out of place. Also anything to improve temps .

There are pics here
They're in .rar format though.

Thanks for the help

for those that are to lazy to look

winrar site: http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm

just saw the picks, and man you must be lazy or something use your imagination, stick that HC inside somewhere. im putting my entire WC system into an enlight 7237 which is smaller, and my HC is a bit bigger then 8x6x2. granted, ALOT of holes were cut, and my Mother board will be moved back about a cm, but it will all fit if you want it to, ( the only thing im putting on the outside is the res, and thats b/c it a bit big. for your case. i've seen the HC mounted at the top of the case (inside) but it might go a bit into your top 5.25 bay and you need to cut holes in your top, of you can mount it on the side panel of your case, it looks like you have some room behind your smaller bays (floppy, hd... the 3.25bays), see if it will fit behind them and then just cut holes in that panel,

here is what i mean http://forums.procooling.com/vbb/sho...5&pagenumber=6

see how the fan intake is taken from both sides, you can do it just from one of the side, check the other page to see the rest

ps, love the fan shroud, but you will have to size it down if you want it to go into that case.

Ok I put the pics up on my interweb servar
http://djquack.no-ip.com/computar/

Lukaz, I don't really want to butcher my case if I don't have to...plus, the side has a bunch of wires that I've hidden. I was thinking of getting a 1978 Toyota heatercore as shown in another thread, but do all heater cores perform alike? Or will some perform worse than others?

Umm.. as far as hacking your case up.. You aren't gonna get much worse than that window that's already there.. it looks kinda poorly done.. The screws are horrendous.. Sorry just my opinion , was that bought modded or did you do that yourself? Anyway.. Also hook it up with some clear tubing.. --bikr

The screws? Those are plastic rivets. The window came on the case. I don't know what you mean by poorly done. It's the same case as the one here.

Oh , you mean the poorly done one in the picture? yah , same one , hmm.. perhaps you should order a side panel without a window and recut it or something.. that just looks shady.. --bikr

How do you mean poorly done? asymmetrical, bad cuts, what? I can usually notice slight impreferfections, but I reaaaally don't know what you're talking about here .

the window looks great, its just some people like the hidden edge look better then the rivets on the outside.

if you're not willing to cut up the case, then i dont think you can fit that in their, even if you fit that in, you would need to cut a hole for the air to pass through,

if you change your HC to a smaller one, then you might get higher temps b/c there is a smaller surface space to get the heat out of the water

How about, for example, some of the HCs found here?

Would more efficient designs result in better cooling with a smaller size? If not, how much worse would temps be?

Look, you can't really expect to mod your setup (particularly put in WC) without having to do some... er... mods. Cutting holes in your case and modifying its internals are pretty much unavoidable. it's also kind of the whole fun thing about modding. Can't make an omelette without breaking eggs!

It just takes some planning, fitting & measuring, and reading up on how others have done comparable setups. Resign yourself to the fact that if you want a clean setup, you will have to put in some time and work. You got a good start there, nice case (I personally like the window), excellent cooling components, so don't wimp out now!

And dude, no offence meant, honest, but don't post 2Mb+ of .rar's and expect others to go through the process of downloading and decompressing them just to help you out. Particularly if the file is FUBARed.

Yeah the rar is utter silliness, that's why I put pics up seperately. You're right, I can't put the HC without cutting up the case...but I was thinking instead of fitting it just inside, rather stealthing it. Now that I look at it a little more, the radiator sidehole mod looks a little better, but since my HC is 7x8.5" (I think) I can't get away with removing just one 3.5" cage . Would an eheim 1048 be strong enough to push water to the top of my case and complete the rest of the loop (well enough that is, not just barely :/)? And would having the HC at the top provide any benefits and/or disadvantages? I'm thinking of cutting a hole in the top and sticking the HC there as lukaz suggested.

find out how much head the pump puts out, that means how much water it could pump straight up, i think

but alomost everyone uses these pumps (not me though, getting my via 1300 today )you'll be fine. if you dont want to butcher you case, did you think of mounting the HC on the outside?

goto amdforums.com and watercooling section and look through the case gallery, get some idea, there is one person that has everything mounted on the outside behind the case, he just made like a little shelf for the pump,

cant find the link, but its there somewhere, he has a copper cylinder res, if anyone know where those pics are on amdMB post it in here

Eheim's website says the head is 4'11"/wat.col. That does mean it can pump roughly 5' straight up right? And would having the radiator at the highest point improve or worsen temps? I took a look at the AMDMB liquid cooling forum, and that gave me a whole lot of ideas .

personlly i think yout temp might be a Degree or 2 higher (but dont quote me on that), right now your HC is on the ground pulling in air from the hardwood floor (warmer air rises but in a room might not matter) so thats a good setup but not convenient.

in a case temps usually are a bit higher depending on the airflow, ask some ppl that have their HC on top wheather they pull the air in or push it out, i would pull it in if i mounted it on the top, b/c the air inside might be again a bit warmer. but ou can play with this once you set up everything

It works pretty good...

what i did was i made a plexiglass case that fits perfectly on top of my computer case and i put everything in there and made a little shelf for the resevoir at the top:-) it looks nice and cost about 20 dollars to make since i made it out of plexiglass scraps that the guy i knew at ace hardware gave to me for free the only things i had to do to my case was cut 2 holes in the top of it and 2 holes in the bottom of the plexicase for the input and output tubes. it looks pretty nice but its REALLY not portable it takes 2 people just to walk it across my room:'( but it hasn't moved since i put it there and neither have i
