I have opened the packege withe the rad, pump and some hose.
I was dissepointed!!! The rad was "so" little. Heres the probS: The BlackIce rad I bought did have some off the fins "damege", I now that this is normal for a car radiator, but for a PC rad that is handpicked! Is this normal or should I send it back? The pump I ordered was a Eheim 1048, it have two pluggins. Should I put the hose outside or innside(!). The hose is small enough to fitt innside, but I can't put it outside. On the BI the hose was a little larger. I need to heat up the hose and then try to festen it. So it's should go on the outside......
What is wrong then? The hose, pump or me?? I don't belive the hose can go on the outside of the pump without getting destroyde. The hose fitts (allmost) on the BI, but on the eheim 1048 (wiche should too the same size...) I only can fitt it innside. |

You need bigger hose. The blackice uses 3/8 inch and the Ehiem is 1/2. I'm surprised any place would give you less then 3/8. Thats usally the min size.
Since the fittings don't match, you'll need to either get strechy tubing (thats what I did, use Silicone based tube in this case) or get a reduces fitting to convert the 1/2 inch portions to 3/8 inch. Check www.dangerden.com or your local hardware store. |

Listen carefully that tubing you got is 3/8" OUTER DIAMETER
you want tubing a snap larger than 3/8" INNER DIAMETER OR LIKE THIS: PVC Tubing with 3/8" inner diameter.. the pump is NOT wrong.. i have used that pump with 3/8" tubing ![]()

and IF you get PVC 3/8" INNER DIAMETER tubing it stretches over the fittings on the pump.. =) so dont worry

OK, I got 3/8 OD.
Is the BI 3/8 OD or ID? Tried to heat the hose up and connect it to the BI - couldn't do it. Is the pump 1/2 as readleder said or is it 3/8 ID? If I get 3/8 ID would that fitt the BI, pump and the DD maze? |

Well Eheim's website lists the 1048 and the 1250 (my pump) as being 1/2. Since I know mine is 1/2 ID, I'll assume yours was also measuring ID.
Strechy 3/8 ID will. My 1250 also has a 3/4 inch fitting that I streched 1/2 tube over. Actually I prefer it like this because the seal is extremely tight. If not a reducing fitting is $1.50 at your local Acehardware or Home Depot. Its just a double sided barb that is 1/2 on one side and 3/8 on the other. Put tube on either side and its good to go. |

Don't be dissapointed w/ the Black Ice being so small... that's its best feature!
![]() The Eheim pump has fittings that can be twisted off (at least the 1250 does). So you can change them. So let me see here... 1. As far as the Black Ice being damaged, if a few fins are bent, you should be fine. Every time I order a radiator there are always a couple fins that are bent. However, that is up to you... 2. It looks like your eheim has 3/8" ID hose fittings, although that seems odd to me. Where did you order it. When you go to a store, you cannot merely specifiy an inch rating. You MUST tell them ID or OD, otherwise they won't know what you ordered. 3. Are you sure the Black Ice has 3/8" fittings you said that they hose "sorta" fits over it. That could be 3/8" hose stretching over a 1/2" fitting... You should try unscrewing the barbs on the pump and going to home depot to grab some new ones. Did you get thsi stuff from the same place?

I ordered everything from the same place (www.www.microplex.no).
As I said I asked before I bought it and they only had one type hose. I don't know what the size the hose it, so I mesured it. Black Ice: 0.8cm(0.31496inch) innside, 1cm (0.3937inch) outside Enheim: 0.9cm(0.35433inch) innside, 1.2-1.3cm(0.47243-0.51181inch) outside Hose: 0.6cm(0.23621 inch) innside, 1cm (0.3937inch) outside From this numbers I belive: Hose 3/8 OD, the BI is 3/8 ID and the pump is 1/2 OD, BUT it seems very strange (double checked it). Is this correct??? [ 10-14-2001: Message edited by: the creature ] |

Oh okay i think i know where you stand now that you mention the swiftech bleed valves. All Swiftech products use 1/4" ID hose. You can ignore the OD values as they do not matter. Because the hose fits, this leads me to believe that you have 1/4" ID hose. The pump u said has 1/2" OD... you should measure its ID. The Black Ice is 3/8" ID. 3/8" ID is standard. What size ID fittings does the waterblock have? If it is a swiftech, they'll be 1/4" ID and if they are any other brand, they will be either 3/8" or 1/2" ID. So here's what we know...
We know your hose and bleed valves are 1/4" ID. We know your Black Ice radiator is 3/8" ID. We need to know the ID of your pump barbs and waterblock barbs. Then we can further instruct you here... -Kev

Thanks Kevin, I have one question more, you said that the hose would fit as long as the ID is the same, but on the BI the ID is 0.315 inch, OD is 0.394 inch and the enheim the ID is 0.354 inch, OD is 0.472 inch on the smalest - 0.512 inch on the largest.
That would mean that the hose on the BI is very loosy or it is VERY tight on the pump, or maybe both?? Regarding to the bleeding valves and the hose, I'll just send it back to them. |

Hmmm
You're gonna want to get the official word on the hose ID. Like check out websites to see. Cuz this decimal stuff is confusing me ![]() -Kevin
