Default Hacking Digital Doc 5

Has anyone hacked this unit to have a larger and more attractive display? I'm not talking about the color of the backlight - I think the display itself sucks, and should be replaced with at least a 320x240 graphic lcd. I have absolutely no knowledge of what it would take to do something like this.

Anyone?

It would be a pretty extensive mod.

You'd have to convert the incoming signals, re-code or duplicate the translation algorithm, so that you can drive the new display.

Not for the faint of heart. Better to start from scratch.

If what you want is a digidoc style display of fan control and temps on a graphical lcd, then I would suggest just using the lcd in a multimonitor configuration with nothing but the MBM dashboard on it. You could easily make a gameport thermistor reader (4 thermistors plug into gameport and are read into Motherboard Monitor with software at www.benchtest.com ). If you want fan control too, you could go with a maxim smbus-based diode reader instead, or if funds allow then you could opt for the Crystalfontz 633. Rather than relying on it's 2x16 lcd for output you can run the NT service and pull everything into MBM from that as well.

I want a that data from the digidoc, but on a better display, and without placing a load on the cpu.
