Default new pump, what do ya think?

my dad picked this up for me from a sale at grainger's earlier today:

Teel 1P579F Self-Priming Marine-Utility Pump
AC: 115V HP:1/10
3/4" garden hose and 3/8" FPT
6-3/8" L 3-7/32"H 3"W
Motor amps: 1.4
motor type: AC-DC series wound fan-cooled, external brush holder
weight: 4.8 pounds (heavy bastad!)
duty cycle: intermittent (15mins per hour)
pump body: bronze, chrome plated (lots of stainless steel on other parts)

350GPH at 1 foot of head
342GPH at 5 feet of head
300GPH at 10feet of head

so...anything good?

it's only rated for intermittent use, so it's no good for computer watercooling, unless you only use your computer for 15min at a time

well....i dont mind running it for 8 hours straight. it came with 2 of the gasket and impeller replacement kits and motor has a thermal shutoff thing if it gets too hot.

And when it gets too hot and shuts itself off...

What do you think is going to happen to your system?

yea i realize that the pump would shut off and my system would nuke itself, but....

wish i had a pict of the back of it so you could see that there is a built in fan to this pump. i would just stick that end out so it brings in cool air and duct out the hot air from it. possibly even put a big fan with a good amount of cfm to it to give it a little extra boost of cooling.

i could also run MBM5 with the Shutdown extension so it would shut off the comp if things started getting too hot...

You think the manufacturer didn't think of that?

Drop the pump, it's a no no.

That is a transfer pump, you can tell that just by the way the inlet/outs are set up. A good high head & volume pump for brief usage. Very powerfull but will get hot quick.

The other guys are telling you straight, and they are right, won't work well for cooling a puter.
