Best H2O Block With Socket A clips....

Hey everyone,

Have been lurking here for awhile now and have decided to jump into water cooling. This is a total noob question, so please bear with me as I could use some advice. I searched the forum and didn't come up with what I really needed....

I'm currently running a Gigabyte GA-7VAXP KT400 board that has no mounting holes. What's the best block I can get that utilizes the Socket A clips? I've been seriously considering the Swiftech 5000 but wanted to know if I have other options.

I'm going to utilize an evaporative tower and 1/2" ID tubing in my system and the Swifty block is the only one I've found so far that will let me stick with 1/2" ID tube.

Also, any thoughts on a good block for a GeForce 4 Ti4600???

Thanks everyone!!

Dangerden also makes an adapter for the Maze3 for socket clip users.

Although it may not be the best in the world, it is decent:

matched with this:

Just an option.

I can personally vouch for the product that jaydee posted. It is a slightly older model in terms of watercooling equipment but it does perform within 1-2 degrees of everything else out in the market. Considering your situation, it would be a very safe buy.

Mine lasted well over a year until I replaced it with a DTEK TC-4 becuase I could utilize the mounting holes in my setup.

I still have that block laying around here somewhere if you want it.

the dangerden maze 3 with the socket tab hold down works great, that's what I have in my system, got them cause I plan on upgrading in a month or so and all the MB's for AMD's with dual channel ram and nforce 2 chipset don't seem to have mounting holes.

they are really easy to install it too the way they made them, just loosen up two screws, place it over the socket, tighten them up then back off the nuts compressing the springs and you're done

the dangerden geforce waterblock is nice too, however a word of advice if you get it, make sure you get the stainless steel hardware, I forgot to check the box off for it so go the cheapo nylon hardware, I had opened up my case to take some pictures and got them developed, as I was looking at the pictures I noticed the videocards water block didn't look quite right, opens up the case and sure enough one side of the hardware let go and the block was just hanging there, i'm lucky I didn't fry my card, though I think it did do some damage since I can't overclock near what other people are getting out of them even with the stock heatsink and fan.

Thanks for the replies everyone.....it's going to be a tough choice....still stuck between the Maze 3 and the swifty......kinda leaning towards the maze because of the mounting hardware....

Anyone know if you can change the fittings on the maze from 3/8 to 1/2 ID??? I'm planning on running my vid card block and cpu block in a parallel system to start......1/2 ID main lines split to 3/8 ID block lines. If that doesn't work out like I want it to I'll want to run 1/2 ID block lines as well. I know the size change with the swifty is easy....don't know about the maze3.

Any ideas??

Yeah they are just 1/4" NPT on the maze3; can change for 1/4" NPT x 3/8" barb no problem. You can find those at any hardware store or home improvement warehouse. I would suggest using the nylon ones if you go with the Lucite top.

As per other thread, D-Tek "River Rapid" block is due end of June. Do you wait? Up to you...

First week of June (hey that's next week right?) according to DTek:

Does that block use the socket lugs though? Don't think so.

Ha, good point. Wonder if they will make a socket mounting clip. I made one for a 3 barbed block before but it was far from good enough to commercialize. Althought it did work great.
