Ok, I'm thinking of getting a Maze2 to replace this crappy block that Leufken sent me, so I was wondering if anyone has tried both the maze and maze 2 and has seen a difference in permformance? I also think I read that it can accomodate 2 peltiers is this true? Thanks for the help again.

It should easily outperform the first one. There is much more surface area for water to travel through. I've talked to Dennis about it a lot, and he sent me pics of it a couple weeks ago. It looks to be a winner. The best part about it is the fact that it can hold 2 peltiers... Two 70w pelts should do the trick for those bastard durons!

I have ordered a Danger Den MAZE-2 waterblock, and it has come to me, as well as a 172watt peltier. I'm still waiting for Danger Den to make that special coldplate to fit one more 172watt pelt under there! When it comes out, I'm going to buy one more 172watt pelt, and the coldplate!
Maybe I could do a "guest" review on the block .. and a "guest" article on using it in a liquid cooled PC enviroment? If this sounds like too much, don't mind me ![]() -Solomon Oh ![]() ------------------ If at first you don't succeed, slap on a 7k rpm Delta! |

Why is the block crappy? Tweaktown.com did a block round up and ours was only 1.7 deg. above the maze 2 and determined MOST LIKELY TO NOT LEAK and most polished block (which means it does NOT look like crap)
You go ahead and spend another $40 to get a block that is harder to install, more likely to leak and only 1.7 deg. F cooler ![]() |

My friend is happy with his leufken aluminum block. It was improved greately by a copper cold plate between the cpu and the block. His temps are on par with his copper "JaggedEdge" block.

The maze-2 can fit 2 172W pelts already can't it... I'm sure it said 2 40mm pelts would fit. That is assuming you can power 2 172W pelts

hehe, I bet if you could power it, you could manage to stack the 172 watters atop a pair of 122 watters. That would be insane. Unless there is a limit to the peltier effect the temps would be less than -40 deg C with an athlon@1.6gig. That would be insane! Try cooling the water from that! But I must warn you. There is a guy in the [H]ardOCP forms with dual 172's and he's having problems chilling the water back down. The water temp is almost at the boiling point and his temps are no better than having nothing at all. He has one of those nice bong evaporators TOO!

Actually the 2x122W peltiers plus an Athlon would overpower the 2x172Ws leading to temperature rise. 2x122W is 244W moved, but actual hot side dissipation is more, then you have to add on the athlon, which is at least 100W. Conservatively you're looking at 350W into the 172's, not good considering they're only rated to 344W.

I am aware of that, however the 172's will just be a little less efficient. They will still be effective in droping the temp and moving heat faster.

A common myth, but not actually true. If you exceed rating on a peltier you get no benefit. In fact you get a negative benefit.
The calc for delaT of a peltier is DeltaT = (1 - load/Pmax)*Qmax where Pmax is max power and Q max is max delta T. so for 350W onto 344W you get (assume Qmax is 70)... deltaT = (1 - 350/344)*70 = -4C So the cold side is -4C cooler than the host side, ie. 4C hotter! oops
