Just hooked up a tt 252-p unit and have a few questions.
stats: set chiller temp to 18c, room temp is 23c running llww blk, 9700 pro blk,cs blk, 2400+ at 2315@1.85v idle load water 19.3c 19.7c cpu 28c 32c system 24c 25c gpu 22c 24c 1. What's temp gradient? On mine its set at 60c, is this ok? 2. Should Idle and Load temps of the water be the same? 3. Since the unit has only a 50gph cent pump, is this hurting my cpu temps? 4. How far below room temp can I go before I get condensation on hose's and blocks inside the computer? 5. If the low gph is hurting my cpu temps, can I hook up another pump into the loop or do I have to remove the stock pump 1st? thanks

50gph is really on the low side, so any upgrade would be good. You really have to keep in mind that if the max flow rate of the pump is 50 gph, you're going to get lesst than half of that, because a loop is very restrictive. If that's the case, you might have an actual flow rate of 20 gph, which is so low that you could switch tubing to 1/4" ID, without any ill effect! The block will perform a lot worse at those very low flow rates.
You can run two in series, or more, but you have to watch out for the total pressure that it puts on the pumps: most pump housings can handle plenty more pressure than they provide, but in series, you're just adding, and adding... which may cause the impeller housing to leak. Idle and load water temps should be different. |

Finnally someone else jumped on the Thermotek surplus bandwagon!!! Congrats.
1. I've removed the controller from mine. Took awhile to figure out what I needed to send to the PS to get the right output. 2. My water temps are about 16C below ambient with the tt252 running full out. (10-12C at idle, 11-14C load) and I don't get any condensation at all. I do still have airflow thru the case. I think that helps. 3. I have a Iwaki 30RZ and another tt252 that I plan on using to build a chiller. I already have modified one of the heat exchangers to use 3/8NPT instead of the 1/4 that they come as. I've said I don't use the controller. That is a recent development (within the last week). 4. I'm still using an original Swiftech WB. Not the best for sure. So my temps on the CPU suffer. I do plan to upgrade with a Cascade or homebuilt as time and money permit. Yes I do think the pump is limiting your temps a little, but remember the tt252 only has 250 watts of pelts inside. The mod's I have done are not for the faint hearted. I've been around electronics (my job) for 20+ years. |
