My Little Giant pump has picked up a clicking noise. Its really annoying me, since its now the loudest part of me system. I don't know how long its been doing this, since yesterday was the first time ambient noise dropped low enough to hear anything in my computer, but its driving me even crazier than the light vibrations I can hear from the pump through my pillow. (of course, that's easy to fix- don't mount the pump to my bed)
Anyways, how can I fix this pump clicking? |

Little Giant makes many different models of pumps. I have a 2-MDQ-SC. What's yours?
If your model lends itself to being taken apart, you might want to try that, to check if the impeller shaft is still intact. |

Its the PCL-020, which last I checked isn't listed on their website. I can unscrew the part with the impellor, but the rest is pretty much a solid unit, except for a small plastic cover that seems to cover... plastic.

Hum... ok, let's try another approach then: are you able to locate which part of the pump is making the noise?
Have you tried running the pump "freely", that is, just running water in and out of a bucket? (Does it still make that noise if you did?) |

Had troubles with my Eheim making a rattling noise.
Grungrefjaert sent me this link: http://translate.google.com/translat...language_tools I´m not familiar to the Little Giant pump, so maybe it´s of no use, but the symptoms sounded similar to my problem. regards Mikael S.

Last night I turned off the pump, (and the computer) so I wouldn't have to hear it through my pillow, and now that I've turned it on in the morning the clicking is gone! It seems louder to me, but that could well be my imagination. In a few days I'm gonna take my system down for tinkering, when I get a couple new parts, and I'm gonna have to add taking apart the pump to my things to do, see If I can find any problems.

The clicking showed up again, and based on your description and the sound, thats probably the problem. Whenever I can get around to taking it apart, I'll see for sure.
