Default Why I'm here

Hi Guys:

I’m a new member here and would like to add my $0.02.

For the vast majority of the post here I see an attitude of problem solving not opinion spouting and people bashing. The climate here reminds me of all the best groups with whom I have had the privilege and pleasure of working.

From my college debating team, to The Second Howitzer Battalion of the 36th Artillery, to the Stage Hands on Broadway to the crew at NBCTV New York, I have worked with people who competed to see who could do the best job but were always ready to share any tips and help when asked. None of the people I have worked with would let a project fail by not helping. And if a person was willing to ask for help that person would not be allowed to go down in flames.

Sure we had our bad days but when the chips were down we all worked together to find answers. I see the same thing here. It’s why I joined. That and seeing intuition and innovation backed up by data and references.

I lurked on the public side of this site to gather knowledge and found much to add to my bag of tricks. To give an example: The tip on the need for a shroud between a fan and the radiator. I could immediately see in my minds eye the disruption of the air flow that close mounting the fan would cause. The citation of an outside reputable source was the clincher. I joined thinking I would ask for more information as to how far the fan should be from the radiator but before I asked I did a search to see if someone else had asked before me.

Not only did I find that answer but practical tips on how to make more than one style of shroud! This is the kind of site I want to be associated with.

Welcome abaord. People willing to learn are always an asset ... because many times those are the people that will one day teach, as well.
