Default best mobo for WC and OC?

This might not be the correct place, but still....

I'm looking for the best OC mobo (P4) that I can watercool.
Currently I have the IC7-Max3, but I hate the OTES fan and the noise that it makes. I can't see a way to WC that.

Also what I miss on this Mobo, is ATA raid.

Currently i have 3 IDE drives like cd/dvd and 2 IDE HDD's..
+ 2 SATA 160GB disks in stripe set.

(so I'm short on a IDE connection of 2)

I have the oppertunety to change from mobo. What is the best mobo?

I want to buy the new P4 3.2EE and see how far I can get it with OC.. (together with the Muskin 500 )

Any advice?

Well the Max 3 is a really good board if not the best. But it seems that if you are going too go high on the FSB you´ll need a slower board. Albatron 865 boards have a good rep for going far on the FSB.

But since i really personally like the Max3 board, i would advice too just buy a ATA raid card and use that for the extra IDE units that you have.

when it comes too the OTES i would think that removing the fan and replacing it with something a bit "softer" would be the best bet at removing the noise.
Or just remove the OTES and put a fan/blower that blows "cool air"over the motherboard.

The layout of the components really make it hard too WC so i think that is a no go.

If you still are interested inn another board i haven't seen one that has PATA RAID & SATA RAID on the same board yet, from other then MSI. The NEO875/865 board.

Thanks for the reply.

I've been looking for that board, but all I could find is the http://www.msicomputer.com/product/d...875P_NEO-FIS2R

Sure, with the 875 I have a standard 2 disk sata raid, but I think I might be adding more sata disks, to slowly replace the ATA's.

I was also thinking about the Gigabyte GA 8KNXp rev2 but is there a way to cool the DPS2 (Dual Power System 2) it has again a fan...... and i hate them ;-) If it needs a fan, i want to Water cool it.....

I looked on his site also, and could not find pics.

I'm positive I'm not the only one having this problem.

The motherboards are getting more and more dependent of the large amounts of air that is moved via the CPU.

As we have with watercooling almost "no air circulation" in that area, things are getting hot specialy if you want to run at a FSB of 250Mhz or higer

My IC7-Max3 is nice stable, but with the rest silent, I want to have that OTES fan kicked out....

Check out the Epox 875 board, 3.2 vdimm, 1.85 vcore, and 2.2 agp volts. No v mods needed.

That was also my downside for the Gygabyte.. (vmod's)

But how to Wc this mobo? It seems to be dependent also on a CPU coolblock/fan, if you look at the location of the mosfets.....

I have the 8KNXP rev.2 Ultra version water cooled. OC's better in this rig than my P4C800 did. Same everything just different board.

The Gigabyte has dual raid options as well as dual SATA if you get the non-ultra version.

And you can cool the DPS, if you go to the last page of the water cooling gallery you'll find pics of my Gigabyte and bladerunner replies with pics of his water cooled dps. It's a custom block and I believe he makes a comment that it's overkill to cool the DPS. Mine doesn't get very hot at all.

Hmm, if you look at thisarticle it looks like it's getting hot....
but maybe with the DPS, it has devided the heat by the PS onboard and the PS add on card..

Yeah, the mosfets are getting hot fir sure. It's the DPS that I was saying doesn't get too hot. At least mine doesn't.

OK, thanks for the input....
So it looks like if I'll take that board, I'll need to cool the mobo also.. ;-( i was kinda hoping that i could do it with a replacement of the heatsink in the DPS.

Strange, that they use a heatsink on the DPS (for the mosfets), but not on the mobo.... makes you wonder if it is just an other marketing gaget. or they are just hoping that the ones on the mobo will get cooled with air from the CPU cooler.....
