Any thoughts on Fedco 2-308

Im interested in a rad box for my dual pelt setup. I have a Fedco 2199 120.2 heatercore which does a pretty decent job for only push / 2 pelts. Well I am making a rad box for a few reasons... 1 for transportation... and also my case temps have rose about 5-8c therefore screwing up my my powersupply indeed.... Yep makes the 12v line go to 11.07 when it used to stay @ 11.70ish ( crap PSU to begin with though )
But I was wondering what you though of this heatercore... Fedco 2-308

Its measures... 9.875 x 9.625 x 2

So that is a whopping 4 120mm fans on eachside

So 8 120mm fans in push/pull with shroud... think I can get my water to ambient? or atleast way better than what my fedco2199 is doing? Thoughts on this? Anyone actually HAVE this?

Well, it's a dual pass core which isn't great, but with (judging from the pix) about 20 tubesets, that won't hurt it to badly, it's about like 2 FedCo 2-342 single pass cores in series.

What are you trying to cool with that thing? With that size rad, and so many fans, you are definitely going into the overkill zone by most standards.

It will probably do better than the one you are using now, but probably not by a great deal since getting to ambient is not really possible, and the closer you get, the harder it is to get closer.

Im cooling 2 pelts... 226 watt and 80 watt. I wont go for 8 fans right away, 4 in push to begin with. Are there any better heatercores than this though?

Hmmm, minor suggestion - Per some of BillA's articles, axial fans will move more volume when pulling air through a core than they will blowing into it... Also I hope you are planning to use shrouds to make your fans as efficient as possible.

Not sure - check Airspirit's heater core data base to find out. I've tried making a list of single pass cores and my list doesn't show anything that big in both dimensions, but I may have missed something. Of course, with a core as big as you're talking about, you might almost be getting into the small car engine rad size range. (FWIW every car rad I've seen has been single pass)

Yeah I checked Airspirits database its how I got this rad. My dilema is that I plane dfor 4 fans per side.. but the rad box I am making is only 2x1x1 ft... which makes the rad needs to be less than 1x1ft not to mention is the price of it... this heatervore is pushing it.. but a car engine rad? how much for that?
