You have to decide on how much space you need, the Ehiem (sp) are HUGE compared to other pumps... Personally the L30 would be my next choice over my Via1300. This Via1300 is totally reliable! And I'd assume the L30 would be also... but I could be wrong, I'd also like some posts on exp's with L30's longevity...

L30 is more powerful than than the Eheim, but it isn't as high up in terms of quality and longevity. I would say to go with the L30 though, or maybe the Mag 3 (Top notch)

Hrm. I thought the Eheim was more powerfull than the Hydor, only slighty, with 0.05m extra head.

Hydor =

*Qmax 1200l/h
*Hmax 1.95m
*Power consumption 27Watts
*Dimensions: LxWxH 114 x 76 x 89mm

Ehiem =

*Qmax 1200 l/h
*Hmax 2.00m
*Power consumption 28 W
*Dimensions: LxWxH 180 x 95 x 120

I have been looking at Danner pumps, and i think i would really prefer a Mag3... if only i could find a UK supplier of 240Vac ones...

Yeah, but for two things,
a.) if you believe the mfg's specs, and
b.) that's only the max head, P-Q curves play a major part.

if you haven't already, take a look at pH's pump test charts, very informative stuff there.

I belive the P-Q curves are very simlar for these 2 pumps

Eheims have the better repitation are very quiet but the Hydor is cheaper and smaller.

I Have just emailed Bill @ Danner, and they do not sell outside the USA or make 240V versions of their pump, damnit. oh well, i think i will got for the Eheim, its a little more expenvie, but from the people i have talked to its more reliable and quieter, 2 things i really need for this computer.

if you have ever tried sleeping in a room with 2 industrial 240v fans push/pull config on a Asetek Waterchill kit rad with no shroud in a aly case with loose rivets and bad vetilation... you know why i want a bit of quiet.

thanks fo your help guys

Guandi,
HAHA, I know what you're talking about! I've got a 172mm, 3x92s, 1x80, 1x60.... There isn't much blade noise, but when all running, MAJOR CFM moving! And there's some loose screws or something, that I have yet to isolate, very annoying! I wonder if anyone makes a thin "25mm" 172mm fan? That would really be nice for 1 shop solution to a bunch of smaller fans, even 120mms are small in comparison to the MIGHTY COMAIR/ROTRON! Muhahahahaaaaaa
