How's the Johnson CM30P7 working for you?

Where I'm at the CM30P7 looks like the perfect buy since the MCP600 basically is unavailable in the entire EU and the Iwaki are very rare and/or very expensive, but before I order I figured I'd ask you for advice.

Owners and users of the Johnson CM30P7 pump please share your experience regarding quality, noise and performance?

Bah! Ignore me, I just finished the Johnson thread and found out about the low MTBF rating on the CM30P7.

Ah well, back to the drawing board.

How does it perform? Well, it is extremely powerful, compact and built like a tank. Contrary to what the manufacturer would lead you to believe, it does not run hot (33 degrees C for the motor housing).

But it does have that limited 2500 hrs. MTBF, and it is a bit noisy --a bit like the Laing 4 from DangerDen, I'd wager.

As such I have decided to swap it for a Davies-Craig EBP pump; practically identical, but with a shorter body, half the flow, but 15000+ hrs. MTBF. It is also reasonably quiet. Cathar runs one so he should be able to tell you more.

Not to pop your bubble, but the MCP600 is around. I know at least 5 stores in 4 different countries that supply them (Portugal, Uk, Spain and Netherlands).

But, 90+ ? price tag, plus shipping.
A bit high on my wallet.

I'm gonna go though all the hassle of ordering a MCP600 from the US.

How would that pop my bubble?

Anyway, the MCP is a good pump and I did consider it, but the Davies-Craig is of comparable performance and easier to fit in my particular setup, being pretty similar to the Johnson CM30P7-1 in certain physical aspects. Hence that choice.

And it is available in several shops in the UK.
