I just got a Hydor L30 and I was quite surprised by the size of the connectors at only 9mm ID particularly on the low pressure side. I was just wondering if anyone has experimented with with larger connectors on this pump and what kind of a difference it made

Is that how the Hydor comes, or did the computer store mod it? If they modded it, change it back. If it comes like that, don't worry, as long as the OD is large enough for your tubing to grip.

The fittings I got with mine fit a 1/2"ID hose. That's what should come with it. The ID. of the barbs on it are roughly the same as a brass 1/2" barb. I can't remember which one, it's a 3/8" or 1/2" NPT thread. I modded my intake with a 3/4" barb and that helped flow some and added a bit more head. I havn't done the outlet yet but plan too soon after I solder up my new caprice core. Generally, the less restriction in the loop is always good but the less restriction you can achieve on the inlet of the pump the better.

Guys the fitting is 1/2"NPT I just checked it.
So just get some 1/2"NPT 1/2"OD fittings. |
