Default Custom WB w/ intergrated Pelt area, possible/feasable?

Hi,

I want to upgrade my standard WC with Pelts. Now, if I have acces to copper and a CNC then is the following WB design possible and feasable?

Explanation:

On the left you see the upper view. Notice that a saving has been made the size of the TEC. The two lines symbolize the wires of the TEC.

On the right you see the front view. The bottom picture has a saving of lets say 5mm and the upper part of the block has a heightening of lets say 1,8mm. When the blocks are placed together a small opening inside the blocks would be created, exactely the size of the Pelt. Note that the pic doesn't give the ratios that precise. The waterblock would be intetgrated with the top block.

Is the internal design of the waterblock than of such importance?

I wouldn't bother trying to make something like that for a few reasons. first, pelts need a lot of clamping to the block in order to be efficient, so planning something that close would be very tricky. also, the metal attached to the hot and cold (comparatively) sides of the pelt should NOT be in contact, that will allow heat from the hot side to travel around to the cold side. kinda like a short circuit, not a good thing. overall, even if the pelt were integral, there would still be the need for condensation prevention (i think) well, that's just my initial reaction to the design, anyone else wanna chime in here?
*edit* the internal design of a waterblock is always a factor, but with a pelt it is spread out (unlike a WW type block, which is focused over the core), and there is a lot more heat so its easier for the water to pick it up.

Default WB w/ integrated Pelt revised

Hey,

Thnx for your reply. I agree with you that the two parts should not be in contact. Then making a saving in the block is not an option. The pelt would be "sunk" into the WB and can be put under great pressure if you make a 1.70mm saving for a 1.90mm Pelt. This would also handle with the condensation because you can make the pelt dissapear really deep into the block. The condensation can be stopped using some sort of isolation material sprayed into the ttwo wholes at the left and the right side of the upper block, in the bottom picture

To bad for the contact issue...any thoughts on that or the thang at whole?

A new picca is posted to illustrate what I mean.

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure why it is you want to do this.

The idea offers no real advantage over conventional designs and would infact probably cause more problems.

In the case of the second pic, the whole bottom section is going to get cold. You now have to insulate a much larger area, and there is the problem of the large contact area between the bottom and the top sections.

I would definitely suggest against it.
