Well it would seem that after the tsunami of forum self destruction that was the trend of 2006 until a month ago... has left the eerie calm like you hear after a tornado just tore your house off its foundation.
Is that bad? Nope... just like a house that’s been royally ****ed up by an external force... it gives you a chance to clean up and let stuff start up again. Do I have any illusions that PC is better for some of the community choosing to leave? and alienating a portion of our readers? Hell no. Do I see a solution that is an easy fix? nope. Do I really care in the end? Not really. The forums are here to just be a place... a place you can post, get answers, evaluate what people are saying, participate in people of like hobbies. Personally for me... I am busy this summer I have hobbies ranging from being a TSD rally navigator, Driving autoX, going to races around the country (F1, ProRally, Champ Car, American LeMans, AMA Super Bike, etc...), crewing for a Pro Rally team etc... in the end my time is almost non existent this summer. The way I see it... is if the community wants a change in direction, change in something on the site, tell me and I will take care of it... otherwise I am content to let the forums to go as it is now and evolve as it wants to. Contrary to what some naysayer’s said before leaving the site, its not going to go away. It pays its bills with the Google Ad's and works pretty good (as in the site's stability and function). One thing I may attempt to do is start up a motorsports, auto enthusiast website for the midwest region of america. Just because its my current point of interest. Not sure what pH is up to... prolly stuff that PhD scientists do... like irradiating poo, and playing WoW ![]() So that’s the state of the site.

Since your big announcement, I've noticed a few members posting again, and some new ones. I think progress has been made.
I don't care one bit for the Snap server stuff though; it just pollutes my "new posts" list, as does spam but hey, it's got to exist somewhere, and it's very active! |

The computer scene is just slowing down all together I think. More and more enthusiasts are just content with a working computer. That and not a lot to talk about if nothing is being reviewed. Lot of new products out but the majority is just blingy half assed crap that not to many enthusiasts would even bother flaming they are so pathetic.
![]() I have been pretty busy with other stuff and will also be very busy this summer. I am building and under water video camera system with temp prob. I am going to be surveying the lakes around here and try to come up with some kind of fishing guide on water temps vs. fish depth and so on for us fisherman. How well it will work out I don't know but if nothing else I will enjoy under water exploration with it. Last weekend I actually finished milling a new die sim from aluminum. Made it a lot better than the last few but results will not be to comparable to CPU's however I really don't care at this point. Going to run a few blocks I have and will show the results when I get done and people can take it as they wish. |

Move from a community with interest in information provided to the community, to a community that provides information which interests itself.

As for me. Had a bad fall a while back.
Metal plate and pins holding left shoulder together. Left arm doesn't work. 3 broken ribs. Broken collar bone, Shattered left scapula, inluding the rotator cuff socket that supports shoulder arm movement. Cleared of suspected broken vertebrae in neck which worried people for a while there. Oh, and a broken big toe which seems insignificant in comparison. Resting and healing. Had to peel much of the deltoid and lateral muscles away to repair bone injury. They're still healing. Left arm strength is non-existent as a result. Muscles still there, just not re-attached to bones yet for strength. Long road to recovery still to go. Am drugged up and all dopey. Not looking forwards to trying to wean myself off the painkillers. Am alive. Am okay. Plenty of people lots worse off than me, so I'm not going to whinge about any of it as I have no real right to. I consider myself lucky. Am not looking for any sympathy. Just stating the facts. Sorry I haven't been around as much lately though guys. Just trucking along. I'll be back when I'm able to. |

Good to hear from you Stew, terribly sorry about the accident... some pretty bad damage there. Prayers go out to you. Just hang in there. I'm now suffering from degenerative arthritis of the neck, so I can relate to the pain (vertabrae coming down on nerves in shoulders and arms... left hand numb. Do as the docs say, and chin up, mate!
As far as the site goes... has been quiet, though it is starting to whisper... and that is a good sign.

I feel for you mate, and wouldn't wish your condition on anyone. Have you found that taking glucosamine has been helping at all? Sorry to thread-jack. Maybe we should take this to another thread, or perhaps in the greater spirit of recent forum activity and murmurings towards increased activity, we could call this the Pro-Healing thread. ![]() |

![]() I'm not taking any extra herbs, etc. Stew, but others claim it helps! I am suffering arthritis in all my major joints too... comes from mis-treating the body working the trades for years. Familial history has a great bearing on whether and when you will suffer arthritis from any joint damage. Now, the occasional shot of cortisone works wonders for me! Thank-goodness! Detached muscles and tendons... been there too! I feel for you on the pain! Take the pain meds no more then neccessary... and they will be hard to get off of, if you are on for any length of time. As far as new thread... could always be trimmed and moved? That's assuming the admins and mods are not all out playing! ![]()

Have basically stopped taking pain medication almost totally as a result, even the stuff that they prescribed for me. Has been a little more pain to endure than I would have otherwise liked, but I can already feel my body coming back into balance, and in the long run I figure this is better. So very tempting to take pain-killers when you're feeling 2 to 4 out of 10 levels of pain, but I reckon that's just a big trap. Once you come off the pain-killers you're still left with 2-4/10 level of pain from lack of natural endorphines even though the wounds are healing, and so the cycle continues. So yeah, I know what you mean, and I've been going "cool turkey" (rather than cold-turkey) since I've gotten home to get off this cycle of pain-killer dependency as quickly as possible while still just taking the barest edge off the pain, rather than attempting to numb the pain altogether. |

I hope you recover quickly.
It makes me shiver. Both your description of you current state and your physical predicament. I am so paranoid about meds in general, that I have to be practically dying before I am willing to take any. My fist experience with morphine was from my mandibular ostomy. Two hours of surgery, six gold screws, one overnight stay, and one :squirt: from a neck vein later I am on my way home. Had all the symptoms you described but never made the connection that it was from the meds. I did not sleep too well either, for the next week or so as my face shrank from looking like I had a foot ball in my mouth to something more human looking.

Take care, Cathar. Just remember to follow doctors advice, use anti-inflammatories to keep the swelling down, and keep things moving as much as you can.

I feel for you. Be carefull with the aniti-inflamatories to, they can be hard on your kidney. You will have a long road to recovery, and lot of PT once the muscels are reconnected.
I had a back surgury that went bad 3yrs ago. I then found out I was alergic to morphine. Ended up with perminate nerve damage. The bad thing is that i'm alergic to most all of the pain meds. I had a neuro-stimulator installed to help control the pain. Amazing on what they can do with technology these day. Keep your head up. The road will get better.

Ibuprofen = Ulcers for me... don't ever be tempted to take em on an empty stomach... I'm still paying for my ignorance 8 years later when it came to following instructions for use...
Adjust your diet to compensate for the... er... bowel operational interruptions (!) that the painkillers will likely have caused rather than heading for laxatives and the like too... |
