Default Quick Connect - Disconnects

I did an extended multi-hour search of the web and various forums, and came up with no good cheap solution for quick connects.

Are there any other cheaper options for these other than the one at US Plastics?

Has anyone used the ones intended for air compressors that they sell at Hardware stores? I'm wondering if these are water-tight.

Try Mcmaster Carr HERE . Available with and without shutoffs. Looks like about $20 per mating set. I have no experience with them so the ones with shutoffs could be too resrictive

also yes Ive used those Air disconnects:
http://www.procooling.com/articles/h...er_3_-_joe.php

they are NOT meant to be used with water based liquids and corrode rather nicely I found. so the plastic colder products overall seem to be a supperior solution. and much ligher. also air hose connections in general have pretty high resistance in them for fluids.

Hmm....I've just bought some Eheim 12mm quick (dis)connect valves. Is that the sort of thing you mean? They haven't arrived yet, and I've still to set up my water cooling (Uni got in the way) but I'll let you know what they are like when they arrive.

They should be perfect for the job as, I'm sure you know, Eheim make their stuff for fish tanks. Here's a link to the thread that alerted me to them: http://forums.procooling.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=9482

I got mine from a store in the UK. If you want it, let me know. I dunno where in the US you could get them. Search on Google.

Depending upon what you want to use them for, you can find drybreak disconnects for relatively cheap on ebay. I've never seen a bobcat skid steer up close and personal, but apparently they use 1/2" or 3/4" flat face disconnects for their hydraulics. Here's a pair that I bought. linky. $65 US seems to be the going rate.

I'm building a modular setup (pumps, chiller, rad, res in one easy to carry separate box), and these are going to make it easy to take to LAN parties. But they're pretty hefty, and I wouldn't really want to try to fit them inside one case as Joe did.

Those are nice, the best cv is 3.0 for a dual shutoff. The chart is tough to read but apears to be < 1/2psi drop (1.15ft) @ 2gpm each. Big suckers tho'
