Snap Server NIC settings question

Hi,

I have a snap 4000 now currently running software version 3.0.566 with bios version 2.0.282. I'm currently unable to force the nic card to 100meg full duplex. I'm wondering if any of the newer software versions have this capability, or if there is another way to do this?

I also have a snap 2000 on the way that I'm going to play with upgrading drives in. I'd be interested if I can force that nic as well.

Thanks..

Joe

use the debug mode to get to the setting you need.

snap300_rack is the name of one of my snap servers, use the ip or name of yours to get to the debug mode

http://snap300_rack/config/config

ethernet Fullduplex enable/disable
speed [0=auto/10/100/1000] (get/set ethernet speed)

I am using CAT6 Cable for the connection. Also, I checked the port settings on the Cisco 2900 and it is reporting that it is to Full 100. Then when going to the debug page and typing in the command to set the dubplex mode it tells me that the port is already in full duplex mode. Yet, if I look at the network settings it shows 100/Half. Thanks for the response.

At least on the 4100, you can't force it into full duplex - you can only force it to *not* go into full-duplex. With a Cisco switch, you want auto-speed and auto-duplex on both the Cisco and the Snap. This should auto-negotiate both to 100/full - if not, unplug the Ethernet cable, wait a bit, and plug it back in to force auto-negotiation.
