The v 4.0.860 is a patch. You must have a v4 installed inorder to use it.
It will kill some of the early v1 2000, so be careful. I Check to see what version of BIOS and HW you currently have. If your bios is not 2.0 or greater you have a v1 2000, and should not upgrade past 3.4.803. To check the vitals click on the SnapAppliance Logo from the admin page. A pop-up will give you all of the needed info.

Your current version is the best, unless you need MS AD Support. Then you will need to upgrade the ram, to compensate for more overhead.
Are you planning on upgrade drives?? If so you will need either v3.4.805 or v4 (best with more ram).

Yes, that is my final goal to upgrade the drives. Memory is no problem I can get that , but the upgrade software v3.4.805 I don't know where to get it. It used to be available from adaptec, not anymore. I will search on google, maybe I'll find it.
Thanks for your help |

Hi everyone, newbie here...
I have the following: Model 2000 Software 3.4.790 Hardware 2.0.4 Bios 3.4.758 I just replaced the two 80gb drive with (2) Hitachi 200gb drives. All is well except for the 137gb limit. I need the OS upgrade and cannot find it anywhere. Adaptec will not support me because the unit is too old? That was a disappointing surprise. We bought this unit new in 2002 and just last month a drive failed forcing me to replace it. Unfortunately I found this site a little too late because I replace the unti with an Intel NAS because the Snaps are too expensive IMO. Can anyone help me with my OS needs? Thanks, btg |

Nevermind. I just read the LEGAL NOTICE.
What a freakin' joke. It wasn't bad enough that Adaptec won't support there Snap products they bought.... they are flexing muscles at a forum like this? Obviously they missed the opportunity to make money from a following like this. I'm really not sorry I bought the Intel NAS now! Sad. Really. Really. Sad. |

Thanks to all that posted the tricks and tips on resurrecting my Snap 2200. At least I am able to use 127gb and mirrored it. Not what I wanted but better than dead.
Did I mention how senseless I think Adaptec is being about this? Because I meant to say this is senseless. Ok, I'll step off now. Have a great day everyone! |
