Snap 4000, large drive limit reached at 130gb?

Hey all.
First, stats:
Model Software Hardware Server # BIOS
4000 series 3.4.803 (US) 2.0.1 306686 2.0.282

Just got the snap as a hand-me-down from work, was hoping to get it running at home as a NAS for my apartment.

So I threw in 3 seagate barracuda 160's, ATA100 drives.
(bought four, had to RMA one.

)
They're only showing up as 130gb drives. Did I hit this LBA limit? can I flash the BIOS or something to increase it, or do I need to go to the .806 OS? Anyone got a BIOS image, or .806 for me?

Any and all help appreciated!

Yep, you hit the LBA limit for that version of OS. There are NO bios updates. So you will need to update the SnapOS to 3.4.805 or v4. While you are upgrading, bump the ram capacity up too, PC100/133 DDR (double sided) to 128 or 256meg. With HD so cheap you should have installed 250-300gig drives.

easy for you to say, I'm workin on a budget here.

Plus I'm not going to outgrow 450GB of storage any time soon with my current usage patterns.

RAM is already at 128MB, and I have a 256 that I tested as well while trying to test out that drive, so I'll probably swap that back in.

So where can I find v4 or 3.4.805 of SnapOS? Adaptec's site doesn't seem to have it... unless I'm missing something.

research reveals that I just need 3.4.805, as one only needs v4 if you're doing active directory, which I'm not.
Why can't I find this anywhere? it's just a patch, right?

Ok, finally found it. (I don't own the domain lordgoogle.com for nothing after all...)
I'd love to host it for you all, but there are some legal issues due to the asshats at Adaptec, as we all well know, and I'd rather not find my butt in the hotseat.

Updated the OS to .805, drives were still only showing up as 130gb.

Here's the money function:
Go to http://snapserver/config/debug
enter config devices format 10000 /reinit
Change the 10000 to match each device you have, in my case it was 10000, 10008, and 10010.
Use "co de info" to get your device numbers.
Reboot the box, let it reinitialize each drive, and you should be dancin'.

Good info klocwerk, very cool to know the drives need to be reinitialized using device numbers. I have a very similar situation but have to also see if I can scrounge the RAM to bump up from 64MB.

Model 4000 series
OS 3.1.608
HW 2.0.1
BIOS 2.0.252

I'd like to post my results w/4x7200.10 Seagate 320GB but just cannot find a good SnapOS .sup file (scoured everywhere). Hoping the .sup and RAM is all I need.

Well I found a PC100-222 128MB that fits and debug memory reports it as:

Total System Physical Memory: 134217728

Not sure if it is DDR or fast enough, will let you know. Now if I find a .sup it will be zroxor.

If you can find a 256 meg, put it in. The extra memory helps speed things up a bit. BTW, it is SDRAM if it is 4000, not DDR.

I didn't notice much of a functional difference between 128 and 256, but I figured that more RAM could hardly hurt the situation.
