Where can I fine SnapOS v4?

I'm looking for SnapOS v4 to upgrade my Snap Server 2000. I've been to Adaptec's site but it doesn't seem to be readily available. Can some one please point me in the correct direction?

It's not ok to ask where I can find this file? What a load of... I understand you can't distribute the file, that's fine. All I want to know is how to get the file. Really a simple request.

If there's anyone out there who can help, please feel free to email me directly.

The reason I want the file is because I understand it provides some level of Win2K3 AD integration.

From Snap Appliance which is now owned by Adaptec. I think the current price is still $200.

Can you confirm added support for Win2K3 AD environment and maybe what is included w/ the added support?

Also, after reading this forum, I understand that I can expand the HD space. Last night I tried two 80g drives and they work great. I was wondering what the largest disk I can use w/ a snap that has the following software and BIOS
Software 2.3.417 (US) Hardware 2.0.0 BIOS 2.0.282

I've read some post that seem to indicate 137g and others that indicate drives as large as 200g +

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry, i thought you were asking after a 'free' version


V4 does indeed bring Active Directory Support for Server 2003, and the latest patch version (4.0.860) gives full functionality/complies a security patch that MS implemented with it

It would take over 500GB and such, but then power can become an issue (ie PSU cant supply enough)

Of course free is always nice but I assumed that since it wasn't available free on Adaptec's site it wasn't going to be free. Now if someone would like to share...

The question is whether it's worth $200.

At first I was going to resurrect the drive for some extra file storage and as stated above my environment is Win2K3 AD so I really would like the best integration with that environment. However, after reading the post on this forum I think I'd like to use it for a mirrored online backup device for digital image files so capacity becomes an issue. But before I go out and buy a couple of 200 or 300 gig drives I'd like to know what my options are w/ and w/o the software upgrade.

On another note, there is an internal fan, I assume a CPU fan, which seems to be on its way out in my unit. Any suggestion on a replacement? Note this is not the fan at the back of the unit.

The fan is a 60 x 60 x 15mm, PN ABF0612LB 3200 rpm 0.1Amp. This is a low speed, Quite 24 dba fan. I moved up to the medium speed fan and it is louder. I lost one unit due to a fan failure. So hearing it a little bit does not bother me, provided it is not over 30 dba.

The limiting factor will be the power supply. But a lot of the newer drives use less power than the older ones. I have 2 300gigs in mine. I have seen some listed on ebay with 2 500gig (1T). Of course your OS must support it.

The limiting factory is the OS. It can not handle any raid > 1T. Some will argue this, but at this time larger cap 4000 are having problems.

Are you 300gig drives in a unit w/o the v3 or v4 software?

No, I am running v 4.0.860. My 2200 (240gig) came preloaded with v4.0.860.

I know the procedure to let the snap transfer the OS to the new drives. Did not need the sup file to update.
