I've been asked to help with a Snap M4100 that won't mount its main RAID5 array. Here's the output of 'co de info':

The fourth one wasn't detected on the other machine but seems to have been detected by the Snap OS. Here's the disk log for the array: E File System Check : FSCK fatal error = 30 Disk 60000 8/22/2007 3:50:54 PM E File System Check : Unknown file type I=34590 Type = 0x130E Disk 60000 8/22/2007 3:50:54 PM W File System : 1 member(s) missing in logical device (original ID: 60000) Disk 60000 8/22/2007 3:50:48 PM E File System : Logical set member 2 not found. Original device ID: 60000 Disk 60000 8/22/2007 3:50:48 PM Is there any way I can rescue this array? |

Drive 4 is the problem child. Is the front panel reporting drive 4 failure? I would remove it then start the unit up.
The unit should run in degrade mode with just 3 drives. It should mount the array, if you did not damage them putting in another machine. Sometimes depending on usage it may take some time for it to mount, up to 30-45min. So if it's not going into panic give it time it should come online. If after an hour it does not mount try doing a reset to factory. You will need to have to use Assit to do the initial setup. Have you read the notice on 4100's at the top of the threads? Need to know if your MB has been modified/repaired. You are setting on the 240gig units that have problems.

I had already tried with drive 4 removed, but nothing seemed to be happening. I'll give it another go.
When I did try that it didn't run in degraded mode, it just kept the array offline. However, I didn't know you had to leave it a while. Thanks for the reply. |
