Default Successful image copy, but a question

Greetings,
After having a second 1100 die, I was able to successfully use DD to copy an image from another 1100.

My question relates to my belief (probably erroneous) that I was supposed to 1st copy the image, then use the Snap Assist to copy the OS (I found 3.4.805.sup).

After copying the image file, when I booted the system, it showed 4.0.855 (US), and seems to work fine. Why would I then want to copy an older OS over the top of it?

Regards,

Gary

Uhmmmm, the DD Copy was copying the OS over. The only reason for re-installing the OS after completionw ould be to be 100% sure you have a good clean copy of the OS, but you would not do that with an older version...

Thanks! It seemed redundant to me as well, but I kept seeing post after post, and also in the WIKI, that you should copy over the image, then reload the OS. It just didn't make sense, and I thought that I must be missing something.

Gary

The original image files made were v3. But since your 1100 is up todate the only reason is to replace any missing files. Depending on how much you copied over you may not have all the help fiies or language sets.

You should have it all. But if it acts strange or you notice something missing reload your v4.
