Snap Server 2000 Fans?

After reading this discussion board it appears that the Snap Server 2000 has one fan from Sunon. I believe it's model #KD1205PHB3 and is rated at 10.2 CFM. http://rocky.digikey.com/WebLib/Suno...05PHB3%20H.jpg Is this correct?

Also, which is better, a sleeve bearing fan or a ball bearing fan? And finally, has anyone replaced their stock fan with a higher CFM fan? If so, would you please post a link?

I was able to install a 50x50x15mm by enlarging 2 holes. The original is a 52x52x15mm. I picked up a Pac Fan (PA-M5515B2) from Fry'e Electronics (3835877) $9.99.

Specs: 4700 rpm, 13cfm 29.5 dBA.

It moves alot more air than the original, but also louder.

Since they are diagonally, it doesn't take much.

Hi, anybody had any luck finding CPU fans?!? I have a Snap! 2000 with hardware revision 2.0.0.

Hey Bob,

I replaced the stock fan in my 2000 with one of these and it works great! http://www.mouser.com/index.cfm?hand..._pcodeid=66400
It's 52 x 52MM so it replaces the old fan perfectly. Better yet it provides 12 CFM or airflow versus the 8.5 CFM from you stock fan. However, it is a little louder than your stock fan. You will need to cut the connector off of your old fan to install this one.

My 2000 and 2200 does not have a cooling fan on the cpu.

I remember seeing a CPU fan when I last upgraded my hard drives. Also received an e-mail from the server this morning (before it shut down) last entry was:

01/22/2006 8:26:20 ERROR CPU temperature is excessive; the CPU fan may have failed.

Oops! Sorry about that. I was moving too fast this morning. Mine also has a fan on the CPU. I know that I've read somewhere on this discussion board that somebody found a fan that works. When you find that post, I'd put it here so that others can find that information more easily. Good luck.

Remove the fan it shuould have some markings on it.
If I had to guess it's 40mmx40mmx10mm fan 12vdc

My 2000 does not have a fan, where is it getting the power from?

The fan is an ELINA SC050406HB59 integrated heatsink. It is plugged into a CPU fan header on the circuit board.

I purchased items for Mouser before, and have gotten good service from them.
How and where is the header for the fan located?
I was wondering if it would be fiesable to add one to my old unit. If I can ever get it working again.

The FAN connection is a 2 pin header just off the marked corner of the CPU. Evenly spaced between the CPU and RAM. It is labeled FAN. I will be pulling the board out later in the week and will take a picture if anybody would like me to post one.

Mine has a splitter from the molex that connects to the motherboard, that goes into a mini adapter with 2 wires

(This is a 2200)

It seems like a large variation between supposedly similar units...

Wonder why the fan setup for both is different, and one has upgradable ram, whereas the other doesn't

My 2000 which is a sn27k vintage, the fan is connected from the molex coming off the power supply. NO CPU FAN.

My 2200 is connecgted to the molex plugs to the hd.

Is that the cpu fan? Just need to cross reference the spec. Then buy one from your local shop. Some wire the cpu so it runs 24/7 and not contolled by the firmware.
