Hi,
I'm a SNAP n00b, so I'm sorry if this is a dumb question: I just got my hands on a SNAP 2200 and am setting it up. Everything has been going fine until I get to the email notification set up. I go through the set up procedure - enter the IP address of my SMTP server, email I want notification sent to etc.. When I submit the form, the server responds with: "Unable to delete e-mail address." I haven't been able to find information on this in any of the documentation. Does anyone know what it's trying to tell me? Thanks, Steve |

I haven't seen that error. What os version are you running.
I do know it does not support auth. Have you tried the test feature?

Hi Blue,
Thanks for the quick response. Here's the version info: Model Software Hardware Server # BIOS 2000 series 4.0.855 (US) 2.0.4 817543 3.4.758 Have you tried the test feature? If you mean the "send a test message after saving settings," yes. It doesn't send anything (presumably because of the error) |

Yes on test message.
I would be tempting to reload the software at this point. Sounds like something is corrupted. Adaptec use to allow you to get the v4.0.860 updater free. Not sure on anything from them. May try using the debug cmd to clear it. config mailaddr add FATAL/ERROR/WARNING/RETURN address (add mail address default (set mail addresses to default) del mailaddr_handle (delete mail address) set handle F/E/W/R [address] (set mail address)

Sorry for the delay in responding.
I don't think Adaptec offers the upgrade for free any more, at least I couldn't find it. The server is working great otherwise, so I'm inclined to leave it alone. I tried the debug route: the command: config cmos smtp-address ddd.ddd.ddd.ddd successfully sets the IP address of my SMTP server. the command: config mailaddr add FATAL/ERROR/WARNING/RETURN address executes ok, but I don't see the email address on the notification config screen afterwards. config mailaddr add default executes but doesn't seem to do anything. info mailaddr says: 01/23/2008 23:18:26 Command: info mailaddr SMTP Mail Server address: ddd.ddd.ddd.ddd (munged by me, but correct) [1 Mail Addresses(s)] ------------ Command executed without error. Any other ideas? Thanks Steve |

Does your mail server require Auth or a different port?

It doesn't seem to. For example, I send email out via PHP on my web server all the time with no authentication (I assume it recognizes by ip that I'm a client of the ISP). The SMTP server is on port 25, which I believe is the standard. I can telnet to the SMTP server on that port and it answers just fine. I'm stumped. Steve |

I bet you are using auth. That's the only time I have seen it fail. If you are using thunderbird for your email. Look under tool /options/saved passwords and check to see if it has your id and password saved.
Are you sending your self and email, to a different account?
