Default Snap 2200 Questions

I just bought a 2200 with drives (a 320g version), however the people before me wanted to wipe the data to protect what was on it, and didn't have the p/w and actually took the 2 disks, mounted them in a workstation and re-formated them.

I know I might be able to use a boot cd version gparted and try to recover the partition tables in an attempt to recover the snap OS, and then try the methods to re-initialize the unit to OEM status.

Does anyone know, if I can at least get the OS that was supposed to be with it at time of purchase from Adaptec? A OEM 2200 img bin or something? I tried to look at the site, but it seems to even ask a email question it costs money? or requires a account.

Also, the power supply was not included, I have read the threads here and seen quite a few mentioning a 3.5a 12v Laptop unit can work, but most people asking have the failed PSU to cut the adaptor off of, anyone know of a laptop that shares the same plug so I can order that from ebay as well?

Thanks, I'll continue to try to use the search function, but didnt get many hits on the 2200 psu adaptor plug.

Snap (adaptec) does not use a image file to load the drives, its a hacker method. Snap has special software for loading the drives.

Without the image file you will not beable to boot the snap to install the OS. The sup file only works on a working unit.

Just need to read the spec on PS used by nb, the switcher type will be smaller and lighter.

I have a Snap 2200 220gb and the transfer rate is killing me @ 40 mb/s, Is there anyway to increase the connection rate on a snap? It is configured for 100mb/s at full duplex.

Sorry, 100baseT only goes so fast when driven by an old Pentium CPU.

Contact Adaptec, They have been releasing the older version. And some have talked to sales and got the Latest version FREE. You need to ask why would I pay $$$ for a OS that has no Support and has been marked EOL.
