Default FTP ISSUES - One more question and I am off to save the planet!!

I was trying to access my snap server ftp. I have it configured for anonymous FTP access but it still says directory listing not allowed. I even added another user and gave that full permissions to my share.

Can someone help? Might they be able to tell me the steps to make it work. I read the admin guide and followed the steps. Still no LUCK.

Also can I speed up the CIFS (SAMBA?) Its going like 3mb a sec...

My guess this is on a SnapOS unit (2200).

The first one is always the hard one.

First you need to create users account and share + Guest share, using the security guide. This will make a mounting point.

Now verify that you can move files while being attached locally to the snap with the std user account.

If not reboot the server and try again. The snapos has issues on permissions with new users. Don't ask why it just does, but a reboot normally fixes the problem.

If all works with SMB you can then try the FTP. It is very picky. Remember that local firewalls can raise havic on this. If internal you need active, external passive. IE switches automaticly. FTP Clinet SW has problems.

There is a detail guide on this site somewhere. I wrote one not using the guide and Snap-tech wrote one. Do a search on FTP by user Snap-tech should find it.

Read the FAQ's on performance. FTP will give you higher speeds.

I did figure it out. Last night at like 4am.

It was the client I was using and the security permissions.

FlashFXP does some type of crazy listing command.

Once i used a filezilla client it works great.

FileZilla was the only clinet that I found that worked for me. All of the bench test posted in the FAQ is with it. You will also need to limit the number of simitionus connections. The SnapOS just has problems with more than 2.

I had lots of issues with various FTP software working and not working with various Snap OS versions when I was still using those units. This is a common problem. I used SmartFTP, but some people had problems with that also.
