I got a snap server 2200 from a client and they said if i could get it working i could have it since they bought a new one.
When i turn it on the system light comes on and then the disk light comes on. Then they blink at the same time and in between the time that they blink the disk one blinks again. The link light is on and solid the whole time. Does anyone know what this means and or how i would go about fixing it? It is also unresponsive to my attempts to get to it via web browser although i may be doing something wrong here. I have tired to use the reset button to no avail as the power button will not turn off the system. when i hold down the reset button after plugging it in(the only way to turn it on/off since the power button wont turn it off) nothing happens besides the blinking lights. I also have a few other questions about if / when i get it up and running. Can i put in a single large drive in place of the small raided ones? Is it possible to put in two different size drives that are not raided? Also how would i get the OS to those hard drives if the client never gave me the cds that go along with the server? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated! ![]() |

Please read the FAQ's.
As far as drives you can have any config youw want. Remember the OS is on the HD.

Maybe this will help http://wiki.procooling.com/index.php...e_LED_Patterns
It's reporting a failure mode or some one put it in reset mode and did not finish the sequence. Here is the proper reset procedure. http://wiki.procooling.com/index.php/Snap_Server_Resets I think it looking of a DHCP server and is not finding one. Preform a reset to factory as described above and see if it will come up.

I reset it three times and i still get the the same blinking light pattern. Its plugged into my working router with a cable that i know works so it cant be that. Is it possible that the on board nic is broken?

swap drive positions and see what happens.
If you have done a factory reset you must use Assist to locate and do the init setup, this sets up the nic port. and yes the nics can fail. Rare but does happen. Also use a different port and nic cable.

Assist does not require a cd. If you do not have it contact Adaptec email support. They have been providing it free upon request.
