Hey Jim. I'm running and eheim 1048 pump, black ice pro, panaflo 120mm high flow on the front of the rad and a sunon high flow on the back (push pull style) hooked up to a 12v/off/7v(adjustable) bay bus, Maze3 block. I use a filler tube on a T fitting and my pump is in the case with the inlet facing towards the front close to the rad with the 120mm sunon blowing on it, I figured that would help with my temps. Also I had TYGON but it was too thick for my liking so I went back to silicon. But I picked up some braided vinyl today. I'm going to back to TYGON when I can order some thinner walled stuff.

That's all good stuff, I don't have and have not seen a black ice but aren't those highly rated?

A couple of things. Is the block tight on the core? If you can, gently now, take the block and swivel it, not rock it, then it is still too loose.
I know it concerns you about cracking the core but it has to be snug. You did say you have a shim so just tighten corner to corner slooooly if needed. How long has this been running, is there a chance all the air is not out? Tubing 1/2". Did you use Artic Silver 3 and a super thin coat? What is the case temperature and your ambient temperature?

Did your CPU run hot when air cooled, hotter than rigs close to yours in makeup?

Jim. Yes the black ice are rated well but I think there just to small for a serious O/C and I put my shim on and tightened the springs all the way down and there is no movement. since I've redone the setup it's been running for about a week and I'm using Artic Alumina. My tubing is 1/2" silicon soon to be 1/2" braided vinyl as I bought some earlier today. My case temp seems to be high too. It's at 38c right now and the ambient is about 27c.

Frag, Not sure if you tried these but I had to lap my dd maze to get it to perform. Also the Black Ice will work well but only if you've got a fan with monster airflow. A regular fan just won't cut it. Your temps are ok for what you have but you have to sacrifice something for killer temps. You either need a bigger rad or more airflow.

Jim. Yes that is correct 38c I know it's nuts I might have did somthing to my MBM when setting it I'll have to look it over but that seemed way high to me too and my side is off so somthing isn't jiveing. I need to get a compu nurse I just dropped $150 on my new burner so it will be awhile. Web your right I think it is the BI pro holding me back this is my first W/C set up so I really have nothing to compare it to past wise but I think I'll step up to a bigger heatercore and maybe a bigger pump and as far as lapping goes I have some 600 to 1500 grit papers from a previous paint mod so i'll try that. Oh and BTW I stopped into shucks today and bought some of that hyper lube super coolant. It stinks too but not as much as water wetter and the green looks awsome thanks for the tip

it'll take years to lap a block w/ 600-grit paper. go to autozone and pick up an assorted pack of wet / dry sandpaper (the 9"x11" sheets) that has 220, 320, 400, and 600 grit papers. that'll work much better (and faster), trust me

also, what kind (formulation) and size (ID and wall thinkness) tygon tubing do you have? maybe some-1 will take it off your hands if you dont want it anymore...

FRAG-

If your case temps are 38C that tells me something, you didn't post your room (ambient) temps though. But at 72 F my case temp is 27 and it is a steel Antec with only 3 L1a panoflos. (one in and two blowing out)

Either it is darn hot in you computer enviornment or your temp sensing is out of wack. Or you have poor case vent. If you ambient is 82F then your cpu temps may be accurate.

Is BIOS showing 38 for case temps too? How about CPU temp?

jim. It has to be my temp sensing although it reads the same in my BIOS. As far as venting I have the side off and my window open so it's about 70F in my room now and my temps are the same. It must be the MOBO sensing unit because my brother in law has the same MOBO with a 800 mhz duron not O/Ced with an alpha 8045 and a big fat delta and his temps are high also. My MOBO has a "case open case closed" sensing unit in the BIOS and my case is open maybe this is causing the issue.

Frag-
Well somone here mentioned you should lap the waterblock. My Maze3 was not flat so I lapped it flat. I am no big fan of the maze3, since my Maze2 cooled just as well, has nothing to do with this issue anyway, but you need to lap it flat. I don't believe polishing up to 2000 grit is needed either. Just lap it flat to 600 grit is fine.

Also I have read a couple of posts around the net stating issue with AS3. HarryC over at amdmb posted that he removed his HS and the AS3 had turned to liquid. He contacted the maker of AS3 and they replied that the AS3 did not cure properly after installed due to to HS fan vibration. Yikes! When I remove my block the next time, I will check to see AS3's appearance, glad I saved my AS2!
His was not the only post mentioning a problem with AS3.

I don't know if you used AS3 but I thought I would mention it.
I suppose you need a DigDoc or something to get another reading on the core.

Hey jim. My north bridge is hot to the touch. Is it suposed to be that hot. I have no active cooling on it just the stock heat sink.

FRAGN'STIEN-

Honestly I cannot answer, I never touched mine.

Now possibly a stupid comment. I have been reading a downloaded manual on the 7vrxp tonight (exciting huh ), and I just noticed in you sig that you have that board. I am looking to build again.

I just read that the board supports processors from 1.4 and up. You have a 1.2? I wonder if that has anything to do with you high temp reports. Maybe someone else could help here?

I am curious to see what the dig doc reports as temps on your cpu.

just screw any fan onto the heatsink on the northbridge, that'll cool it just fine

I'm guessing it's 40 or 50 mm? I think I have one laying around I'll try that. Is it worth W/C the northbridge? I may go that route also.

almost all are 40mm, try for that first

if you get a higher fsb with the 40mm fan on there, then it's definately worth watercooling it, trying to get the highest possible fsb
