I have a snap server 4100 currently with snap os 3.4.790 and I am trying to update to snap os v4. Is this a free update? According to the upgrade guide at http://www.snapappliance.com/images/...adeNotes2.html I should be able to download it direct from them but I can not see it anywhere on their site. Any help appreciated, thanks.

Version 4 is not a free update, unfortunately. Why are you looking to update to 4.x? The only advantage is MS Active Directory support. If you don't need this there is no other reason to update since the 4100 does not support large drives.

Jontz - You've become David's little helper!
Lol Give us reasoning why you need OS v4 and we'll help out As if there is no reason such as a function in it, you just slow your unit down!

Hopefully someone is still reading this thread
![]() I do need Active Directory Support. I'm using the snap server quite a lot and recently I upgraded from Windows 2000 AD to Windows 2003 AD and am unable to connect to it anymore. So any help would be more than welcome. Tia, |

You need to update to v 4.0.860 or use the work around posted in the wiki section.

I tried that but I first need 4.0.830 before I can upgrade to 4.0.860. Is there a problem with the 4.0.830 release? Because I can't find it anywhere on the adaptec website.
As for the workaround: I would rather try getting 4.0.830 before using the workaround. |

You must purchase v4.0.830 (4.0.860) from adaptec. It is not a free upgrade, unless you purchased a new unit.

You will have to get them from Adaptec. Be sure to check the revision of motherboard before you go storing tons of mission critical data on it. There is a sticky thread at the top of the forum about it. If you're bumping up to 4V for AD2003 support you might want to consider a ram upgrade if you havent already.
