Does anyone know of a debug setting or any mod that would allow a Snap 4000 to startup when the power is turned on - Auto Power on.
Having a NAS that requires you to physically push the button to start the NAS after a power outage is like having a UPS that doesn't auto start. I can't believe that SNAP was so shortsighted that it did not include this option. ![]() I realize that most people here are just home users that don't really care about this, but for those of us that have to maintain a remote site, this is essential. Yes, I know about UPS options - I am not interested in discussing that. Are there any debug settings or realized hardware mods that work with the 4000 motherboards? Does anyone know what systemboard is in a 4000? oidar |

I don't believe that there is an auto power on feature, at least I don't see one in the debug commands on my 4100.

I intend to design a small circuit to allow a power down from a UPS and an auto power up when power returns (it it pretty simle really). However, do not get your hopes up, it is very low on my priority list at the moment. Things like what are the actual limits are more important to me at the moment (among other things in my life), but I will get around to it eventualy and will post info here when I do.

Use a timer, resistors, and either a transistor or SCR.. But you get the idea. It is not very hard at all...

Or just hide an illegal immigrant in your server room and tell him that unless he wants to be turned into INS, he'd better make sure that snap stays up and running!
