I can't seem to figure this out and was hoping someone out there can help me out.
I have an Adaptec Snap Server 2200 with 4.0.830 firmware version installed. I go through the steps to joining the Snap Server to my domain which gives me no errors. However, when I want to add users from my Active Directory I get the following error message: Problem: Cannot view users and groups from the Windows domain. Please make sure you have specified a correct domain user name and password using the Use Windows domain security security guide. Any idea why that is? Please HELP!!! |

I think that problem was fixed in the last update v4.0.860. You should be able to download the updater free from adaptec site.

I tried downloading the latest firmware but there seems to be some kind of a problem with my account. I contacted support about it but they still didn't get back to me.
I need this to be resolved ASAP. Is there any chance you can upload the firmware on here or email it to me directly? |

Sorry I do not give out copyrighted material. You will have to get if from adaptec. They normally send a email responce with a link, upon request. Just tell them which version you have and request the updater.

I just downloaded and updated my Snap Server to v4.0.860 but I am still getting the same problem message:
Problem: Cannot view users and groups from the Windows domain. Please make sure you have specified a correct domain user name and password using the Use Windows domain security security guide. Now we know its not related to the firmware version. Any other clues to why I am getting that problem message? |

Here is a link on Adaptec Knowledge Base on AD setup. See if this helps.

I don't think Guardian OS is compatible with Snap Server 2200

I am not trying to sound like a jerk, but the old saying, "You get what you pay for" applies here. You want all the bells and whistles and proper operation with newer OS and protocols, then you pay for them.
Video cards is a great example. If you need DirectX 10 and eye candy with decent frame rates for say Crysis, then don't buy a GeForce FX5200. And if you can't afford a GeForce 8800GT, well then, you are going to have to live without the DirectX10, eye candy, and Frame rates with Crysis. Sure, you can buy a low end less expensive 8500/8600 and get the DirectX 10, but you aren't going to get all the eye candy and frame rates in Crysis. If you want to stick with a 2200 and SNAP OS (FX5200), then you are going to have to live with some problms with the newere OSes and various protocols not working right. If you must have all that stuff, then you are going to have to pony up the cash for a Snap Server that will do those things (Guardian OS).

1. Download this programm Putty 2. Set enable SSH in web interface your GuardianOS (Administration -> Server -> SSH) 3. Start Putty and connect with your Snap server. You will see unix console. 4. Login as: admin 5. Inter command: Code:
su root ![]() 6. Than you must delete broken database of AD's users and groups, it's winbindd_idmap.tdb. Code:
rm /var/lock/samba/winbindd_idmap.tdb 7. Restart your snap server and enjoy! ps. sorry for my english ![]() |
