The following message is displayed when I try to access the monitoring features on the main server page on our 4500 as the admin.
"Sorry, this server has encountered a system configuration error. Please see your system administrator for further assistance." All LED's on the front panel are Normal. I tried rebooting several time, but that didn't help. I can access the debug page but I'm not sure how I can look at logs, I've only used it to clean up resource fork problems when our Mac users can't access via AFP. Not sure how to access the recovery console? Any help would be great. Thanks in advance. |

type: touch /nopivot <enter> will launch debug on reboot.
Then reinstall the OS would be the easy fix.

Does reinstalling the OS affect the data? And how do you reinstall the OS?

No only if you use the clean install option.
You need the GOS.gsu file, and the current one or newer. If you bought the unit new and did not upgrade it's on the cd that came with the unit. If you have upgraded you should have a copy. If you need to purchase a copy you will need to contact Overland Storage. They also have a support option if needed.. If your mac's are using osx you need to be on the latest version 5.1

Thanks for your help. Our Mac users are using OSX 10.5 and complain about the "spinning beachball" and maybe ugrading the snap servers OS will help them.
This forum has helped me in the past and today. Great job and thanks again. |
